A Conversation With Anna Gomez

Mercy:  Can you share a little bit about yourself? Anna : Sure, my name is Anna Gomez. I used to write under my pen name, Christine Brae. I am a mother, a wife and a career woman. During my free time, I write books. Mercy:   What started your interest in becoming an author? Anna:  I’ve always loved to write even when I was younger – poems mostly, letters, journals. When I lost my mother in 2010, I realized how different our relationship was. Writing our story became therapeutic for me. With the encouragement of some authors that I met and befriended, I self- published my first book with the intent of going on with my life and my career. Little did I know that that book would bring me a following and a need to write a 2 nd book. And the rest is history. Mercy:  What do you like to do when you're not writing? Anna:  I travel extensively for work and love to take my family on trips with me. When I have time (which is kind of a rarity these days) I read books voraciously. I am also

How to Write a Good Story

There’s a story in you somewhere and it’s got to come out. You dream of a career as a published author, but before you get into the business side of things, you’ve got to write a good story. Here are a few pointers to get you started. Read Your Genre If you want to write dark fiction for children, read Lemony Snicket, for adults, then read Daniel Handler ; bonus points if you know that’s the same person. Read the genre you plan to write, and find your author mentor, but don’t mimic. Be sure to give your story your own voice. Brainstorm and Mind Map With or without a solid story idea, take a piece of paper or a blank document on your computer and start writing down everything you can think of that may happen in the story. It’s often helpful to do this on paper so you can literally draw lines to connect related plot points, though there are software that allows you to do this on your computer. The Famous W’s Who, what, why, when, and where are your friends. Answer these questions to get

A Conversation With Kristoffer Polaha

Mercy:  can you share a little about what your 2020 was like? What was one good thing in that year for you? Kristoffer:  Due to my sons doing school over zoom my family was actually able to travel with me while I was filming movies. In June we were in the UK.  Then from the middle of October until December we were in Vancouver for Mystery 101 and got back to LA around December 18th. We had a very different experience than a lot of people did, which I was humbled and grateful for. In the middle of this awful thing that was scary and changed everybody's lives; I was blessed enough to work and stay busy and I was doubly blessed to have my family there with me the whole time. Everyone knew I would bring them with me, when I was working. Mercy:  that must’ve been cool, being able to have your family with you. Was the UK for Jurassic World? Kristoffer : Yes, it was! And yes, It was a really unique and neat experience.  Mercy:  Do you know when that will be releasing? Can you share any

Buying a New Home? Some Things to Consider

Hey neighbors!! Are you considering purchasing a home?  Before you do, tae a few moments to consider a few things.  I am no way suggesting you not purchase a home, just make sure it is the wisest choice for you. 1. Location - Location is important.  Is it close to schools, work, and the places you will need to shop? It does not have to be right down the street, but a half hour commute every day in traffic may start to wear on you.  If by driving a little further, you get some other benefits that are important to you then you just need to weigh the choices and make sure it works for everyone. 2. Long Term - Is this somewhere you will be long term? Are you planning on spending years in this town, or is it just a temporary stop on your way to somewhere more permanent? If you are not sure on how long you will be in a specific town, you may want to rent until you know for sure. 3. Condition of the Home -Is the home ready to move in, or are some repairs needed? If there are repairs needed c

Top Tips on Small Engine Maintenance

To help avoid regular small engine repair , it is important to follow these simple maintenance tips that can have your engine running smoothly throughout the season. It is always best to maintain a small engine, over having to repair it due to improper care or use. Change the Air Filter Always follow the owner’s manual for the frequency of changing the air filter. In severe conditions, an air filter replacement may be required more often. Simply cleaning the air filter by blowing out debris, instead of replacing the filter  can sometimes damage the filter and allow debris and dust to clog the intake system. Check All Battery Connections Engines require a good battery just to get them started, let alone to keep them running properly.  Make sure your posts and terminals are clean and tight, so you have a good contact.  And replace your battery when needed. Check and Change the Oil The proper maintenance of any outdoor power equipment begins with understanding and maintaining the engine.
