3 Things To Consider Before Getting a Dog

When the time comes to expand your family by adopting a dog, you need to do some research to determine which breed is best for you. While every individual dog has its own temperament, different breeds have various traits that make them suitable for specific lifestyles. Here are three things to consider before deciding on a dog.

Security
If one of the reasons you want a dog is for security purposes, you probably don’t want to choose a small breed. Large dogs may look fierce enough to ward off would-be- burglars but could be lovable balls of fur to the members of your family. German Shepherd puppies in Miami, Alaskan Malamutes or Rottweilers are all great for security purposes.

Family Structure
Some dog breeds are generally too active and rambunctious for young children. Others don’t like roughhousing with older children. Elderly couples probably want a quiet companion while younger couples without children may want a more active dog, so it is important to carefully consider your family structure before deciding on a breed. Poodles, Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers and bulldogs all make wonderful family pets. Large, active dogs may be better for young couples and elderly couples often prefer their animal companions to be small, social and docile.

Activity Level
Many popular family dogs need lots of activity or else they get bored and cause trouble. If you’re looking for a dog but don’t have a large, fenced-in yard or time to go on multiple walks during the day, an active breed such as a beagle or border collie may not be the right choice. Similarly, you probably don’t want a bulldog if you want an exercise companion. You need to consider your activity level when you are choosing a dog breed because you won’t be happy with an animal that isn’t content with your lifestyle. Carefully considering these three things will help you choose the perfect companion for your family.

Must-Consider Safety Precautions for Your Wedding

As you get ready to say “I do” on your big day, you will want to ensure that everything is perfect. With events, regardless of how well you plan, things are bound to go wrong; however, there are precautions that you can take to avoid some issues. Consider these safety precautions that can help you avoid major issues on your big day.

Transportation
At many weddings, alcohol is provided which can lead to some driving while impaired. Offering Event Transportation Scranton can help keep people from drinking and driving. This can also be helpful to elderly guests or guests flying in from out of town or state, where offering transportation to your guests can keep them from getting lost and arriving late.  This is something many of those guests will appreciate as an option.
Insurance
Wedding insurance is a great idea for any couple. This ensures that you are protected against a loss of funds should an emergency arise and if any major situations come up. For many wedding venues, this is a necessity and can often come at a reasonable cost through your insurance provider.

Weather
Nature is bound to occasionally impact weddings, but by creating a plan for weather conditions, including inclement weather and extreme temperatures, you can ensure that everyone is safe. Rain is not the only weather that can impact a wedding. Issues from extreme heat causing dehydration and slippery conditions brought on by snow can also be harmful to your guests.

Emergency Kits and Essentials
A must-have at every wedding is an emergency kit filled with essentials. This can include everything from first aid supplies to feminine products to spray deodorant. By ensuring that you have backups on hand, you can be prepared for any scenario, issue or need during your event without having to send anyone out to collect supplies.

Wedding mishaps are bound to happen; however, there several safety precautions that you can implement to avoid them. Whether you can fully avoid them or mitigate them at the moment, with some precautionary measures, you can ensure to be ready for any issues that may arise.

Why Pet Dentistry Is Important

You already give your furry companion a safe home, nutritious food, and lots of love. Regular vet check-ups and vaccinations go a long way toward keeping pets happy and healthy, but it is important to add regular dental care to the mix. This is especially true if your pet does not tolerate home dental treatments like tooth brushing. Although many pet owners worry about bringing their cats and dogs in for dental treatment, pet dentistry is key for promoting a long, healthy life. If you are thinking of bringing your pet to a Shoreview veterinary clinic for dental work, consider the benefits that pet dentistry offers.

Fresh Breath
Bad breath is often an early sign of dental problems or gum disease in pets. While the main concern is the animals' health, their bad breath may be unpleasant for their owners, too. Removing plaque and tarter and treating gum conditions makes snuggling with your pets much more enjoyable.
Strong and Healthy Teeth
Pets need dental cleanings for many of the same reasons their humans do. Keeping their teeth free of harmful plaque reduces the risk of tooth breakage and loss. An animal with damaged teeth may have many symptoms, including behavioral changes and difficulty eating. Regular dental exams and cleanings can stop these problems before they start.

Lifelong Health
Much like in humans, poor dental health can have serious consequences for your pet. Bacterial buildup and inflammation due to untreated dental conditions can affect the heart, liver, or kidneys. In severe cases, this can shorten an animal's life. Regular dental checkups may also detect problems like oral tumors or abscesses that can be life-threatening.

Pet dentistry helps keep your precious companion healthy for years to come. Regular exams and cleanings can correct dental issues and lead to earlier detection of treatable conditions.

How to Rethink Your Finances During the Novel Coronavirus Crisis

During this time of economic crisis caused by the novel coronavirus, many people are struggling to remain financially stable. If you are low on income and need help making it through the next few months, find out if the following steps fit into your lifestyle.

Take out a Loan
If you have financial responsibilities that exceed your income, consider taking out a loan. Explore the different options online, such as https://creditarch.com/, to find a payment plan that makes sense for you. Remember that you must pay the loan back with the addition of interest, so do not sign up for a loan that you cannot afford to repay.

Cook From Home
Restaurants are closed in most states now, but many still offer takeout and delivery services. These options are attractive, particularly if working from home or caring for your children keeps you busy all day. However, frequently ordering food from a restaurant is both unhealthy and expensive. To save money, cook for yourself as much as possible. Do not worry if you have never cooked before now; you can find many tutorials online, and basic meals such as spaghetti and tacos can be ready in less than half an hour.

Limit Your Time in the Car
If you are not an essential worker, you probably only need to drive to purchase groceries. Reduce your gas consumption by avoiding unnecessary trips. For example, if you can walk to the post office, don’t drive. You’ll save money on gas, and you’ll also slow the spread of the virus by limiting the places to which you travel.
Cut out Unnecessary Services
Many companies offer low-cost monthly subscriptions to services such as music and video streaming. These bills may seem cheap at first, but they can quickly add up. Evaluate all of the monthly subscriptions that you have and determine which ones you use the most. Balance the need to entertain yourself and your family during this stressful time with the realities of your budget. Additionally, if you usually have food delivered to your house, drive to the restaurant to pick it up. While you must pay for gas, you’ll save money on tips.

Everyone is struggling to adjust to this time of crisis, but it’s even more challenging if you face budget problems. Look over your finances and see if you can make any of these changes to save money and make it through these difficult months.

Raccoons, Rodents and Other Pests

Hey neighbors!!

How many of you have experienced some type of pest, whether they be fur covered or of the insect kind?  We have been married 38 years soon, and have had a few experiences that I would love to forget.

Shortly after we married we rented a cute little apartment on a canal in Florida.  It was only three apartments, and the manager lived in one.  It was raised because of being on the canal, so we were technically on the second floor.  We had a beautiful back deck where we could sit and watch the sunset, enjoy a cookout, or even fish.  Our neighbors owned a large black cat, and one night when the husband went out on the deck to bring the kitty in, he almost grabbed a rat instead.  Fortunately, since we were renting the manager immediately had someone come out and take care of the problem.

Our next experience was while my husband was in the military.  We were stationed in Ft. Walton Beach,  FL and since our second daughter had just been born, we looked for a home to rent, rather than an apartment.  We found a nice home with a small yard.  Our first night there we heard noises in the home, but could not figure out what it was.  The next morning we found several roaches in the kitchen.  Now, for the record, the house looked nice and clean, so we were unsure where the bugs were coming from.  We called the owner, who sent out a pest control company to spray the home.  He then told us that they had recently, torn up and removed an old rotting boat out of the backyard.  After the pest control company was done, we swept up a huge pile of dead roaches.  I am talking a couple inches deep and about 1 1/2 feet in diameter.  Great, right? No, there were more.  We ended up getting our deposits back and living in an apartment.

Fast forward to our present situation.  We now have raccoons in our ceiling.  They have managed to find a way in to the crawl space above the newest portion of our home.  You can hear them crawling around and occasionally fighting.  My husband called around and found someone who said they could remove the raccoons.  Needless to say, after quite a bit of money lost, we still have raccoons.  My husband's next thought was to poison them, but that would most likely end up with raccoons dying in our walls and then smelling for weeks.  So, we are back to square one, trying to find someone who can come in and remove the animals.

I am sharing all this to say, sometimes you will need to hire a company to take care of your pests.  Once in awhile the problem is too big for the homeowner, and you need to call a professional in like Rodents Stop.  It may not be because you don't have the knowledge, but you may have an injury like my husband that prevents you from dealing with the issue.  A company will be able to send in a specialist who knows exactly what they are looking for.  They will be able to inspect your home, remove the pests and help you to make sure they do not return.  Companies like Rodents Stop will use natural, pet-friendly methods.  Be sure to find out what methods the company you are considering hiring will use to solve your problem and check into their guarantees.  One of our mistakes above.

Hopefully none of you are presently confronted with this type of problem right now, but if you are take my advice and hire a professional.  It will prevent a huge headache for you, and will most likely get the situation taken care of much quicker.
