Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase DVD Release and Giveaway!

**“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”**

Hey neighbors!!

I was given the opportunity to preview the new Nancy Drew movie, Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase.  Since I grew up reading the Nancy Drew novels and my girls have also read them, as well as playing all the computer games, I was really wanting to see how this turned out.

So, the other day we popped this into the DVD player and sat down together to see what we thought.  To be honest with you, I wasn't sure what to expect.  It definitely is not your old Nancy Drew.  We turned it off after about 20 minutes.  Now, don't stop reading here.  We had several discussions regarding how disappointed we were.  I understand they are going to update, but I was expecting the characters to stay the same.  You know what I mean, I expected George to be a tomboy, and Bess to be scared and insecure and for Nancy to be pretty straightforward yet classy.  Bess is the only one I feel retained what she was like in the books.

So, after the girls left today for the nursing home ministry, I decided to finish the movie.  It picked up and improved.  The girls will most likely finish watching it.  The movie ends, leaving the option of a sequel.

The iconic mystery solving teenager from the classic Nancy Drew books is back with an all-new feature length film that will keep you guessing until the very end! Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release Nancy Drew And The Hidden Staircase on Digital starting March 26, 2019 and Blu-ray™ Combo Pack & DVD on April 2, 2019. The film stars Sophia Lillis (IT and “Sharp Objects”), Sam Trammell (“True Blood” and “This is Us”), and Linda Lavin (“The Good Wife” and“Alice”) and follows Nancy Drew in her new town, making new friends and on a mission to solve the case! The film carries a suggested retail price of $19.99 for the Digital, $19.98 for the DVD and $28.98 for the Blu-ray Combo Pack.

After the death of his wife, Carson Drew decides to leave Chicago behind and make a fresh start with his daughter in River Heights. But for 16-year-old Nancy Drew, life in a small town is mighty dull. She longs for excitement, adventure, and the chance to make a difference. Nancy gets that opportunity when she is asked to help solve the ghostly activity at the Twin Elms mansion. Can she help explain the creaking footsteps, exploding lightbulbs and the ominous creature? Is it the handiwork of high-school bully Derek Barnes? Or is it possible that the ghost of original owner Malcolm Colfax is back for revenge? Recruiting her best friends George and Bess, along with local “mean girl” Helen, Nancy Drew is on the case!

Pros - The movie itself will hold your interest after a slow start.  It is fun trying to solve the mystery.
Cons - There are several "Oh my,...."  There are also at least 2 more cases of swearing and one inappropriate word.  In the beginning of the movie Nancy is sort of portrayed as a juvenile delinquent, which never occurred in the books.

I tried for 3 minutes to move the puzzle pieces, but boy I am no Nancy Drew here. I loved reading the books growing up though and The Hardy Boys sometimes.

The game didn't work on my old, not updates phone. But, since I haven't had my morning coffee yet today, I am guessing it would have taken longer to crack the code!

It took me about 20 seconds (Super Sleuth).

The game did not work on my computer. So I guess I am no Nancy Drew otherwise I could've figured out what was wrong and made it work!

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back. 10 Things You Need To Do Before Moving Abroad

From There is nothing more fulfilling than travelling the world and visiting new and exciting places. If you’re a fan of travel , then you might have thought about moving abroad at some point. Unfortunately, there is a lot to do before you can get on the plane, with finding accommodations and a job being the most important. If you’re moving abroad soon, or think that it’s something that you’d like to do in the future, then here are ten things that you need to do before you start your new life. 1. Visit The Country Plenty of people move abroad without visiting the country first. Although this is fine to do, as long as you’ve done plenty of research on the country, it makes much more sense to visit the country first. This way you can get used to the culture, and will know in advance whether or not the country is somewhere that you’d actually like to live. 2. Research The Country You need to do lots of research before you move abroad, especially if you haven’t visited the count
