Versa Chalk Markers and Magnetic Chalkboard

Hey neighbors!!

Versa Chalk has some really great Mother's Day gift ideas.  I love their Rustic Magnetic Kickstand Chalkboard.  I received the chalkboard and their 10 pack of Classic Colors Liquid Chalk Markers.  This is perfect for a countertop in the kitchen or perhaps on a sideboard in the dining room.  You can use it for grocery lists, menus, or even a verse for the day.

I did a little Mother's Day doodle on the chalkboard.  It is so easy to write or design with the liquid chalk markers.  The first time you use them, you need to press down a few times to get the liquid chalk to the end of the marker.  After that it is quite simple to draw or write.

Versa Chalk has several other boards available, as well as many different color chalk markers.  They have neon, classic, white and metallic.  The board is also magnetic, if you prefer to put magnets on it instead of or with using it as a chalkboard.

Find Versa Chalk on their social media:

Be sure to enter the giveaway!  Versa Chalk is giving one neighbors their own Rustic Magnetic Chalkboard and Liquid Chalk Markers!!  Thank you for stopping in!!  See you soon!!

Mother's Day Gift Giving Ideas

*Contains affiliate links.

Hey neighbors!!

Hard to believe, but Mother's Day is fast approaching.  I decided I better start looking around.  I know first thought from many is flowers and a card, but what about creating a personalized gift basket your mother would love?  What interests does your mother have?

If she enjoys books, there are so many to choose from.  I love Christian suspense novels.  I have the Dee Henderson collection as well as many others.  I also enjoy a good devotional to start my mornings off or to end the day.  I personally don't care for eBooks, but those make a good choice too!!  Perhaps you could include a Kindle for her eBooks.

If your mom enjoys gardening you might want to consider a nice gardener's gift basket.  You can create one of your own by purchasing a basket or even a gardening bucket and then adding garden gloves, a hand spade or shovel, a few seed packets or even a gift card to a garden center.  Perhaps she would enjoy one of those rolling garden stools.

Scrapbooking or another type of craft might be your mom's cup of tea.  You can do the same thing with a basket.  Purchase whatever type of supplies she needs for her craft.  Scrapbooking could include different scissors, Washie tape rolls, embellishments and scrapbook pages.  For someone who knits or crochets you could include a new pattern book, yarn or other supplies.

Does she like coffee or baking?  This could be a lot of fun!  Choose a new mug and some different coffee samples.  If she likes baking you could get a new apron, some baking pans, matching oven mitts and towels or a special kitchen tool she has been wanting for awhile.

No matter what your mother likes, you are sure to make her happy with a gift basket you create yourself!  So happy shopping!!

Drink Hydrant!

#AD

Hey neighbors!!

Good to see you out today!  I have a unique product to share with you today.  You all know how hard it is sometimes to drink the amount of water our body needs.  Hydrant will help with this.  Hydrant's unique ingredient blend allows you to absorb water more efficiently, think of it like a hydrant that sends water quickly and efficiently to your cells.

Hydrant presently comes in two flavors.  They have Lime or Grapefruit.  I am thinking I would like to try the Lime as I have never been a big Grapefruit fan, although my husband is.  You simply add a packet to your water, once in the morning and once in the evening.  They say the colder the water, the better it tastes.  You can also dilute it a little if you prefer less flavor.

Hydrant contains electrolytes and they chose to use sugar rather than artificial sweeteners.  Hydrant is perfect to drink before or right after a workout.  Hydrant creates effective hydration products developed in-house by an Oxford Biologist. The Optimal Hydration Mix fights the fatigue that 75% of us experience from dehydration every day. Formulated to make water work better, instantly and conveniently, Optimal Hydration Mix keeps you healthy and hydrated.

Right now, you can get 33% off Hydrant.

  • Promo Code: HYDRANT33

Gramma in a Box, Unboxed!!

Hey neighbors!!

I am totally sold on Gramma in a Box!  It is a great way for grandparents to spend a little time with grandchildren with activities already planned and prepared for.  Yes, the boxes are also perfect for moms to do with their children, or for teens to just have fun with. Grandparents can plan time together to do the box, or if you are far away, you could Skype or FaceTime to do the Gramma in a Box projects.  So, below is our unboxing video.

Each month Terri, the creator of Gramma in a Box, sends a box of subscription treats out.  Many are season or holiday themed.  This month's box was so much fun!  We did videos of each treat being made and then took pictures too!! I hope you enjoy the videos!!

Our first project this month was marshmallow flowers!  After completing the flowers, I took scissors and made some tiny cuts in the marshmallows to make them look just a little different.

Our second project was adorable Bird's Nests with tiny jelly bean eggs.  You use Chinese Noodles and melted chocolate to create the nests and then add the jelly beans!

The third project was decorating cookies.  You get three different colors of icing ready to use, just snip the end of the bag with scissors and you are ready to go.  There are also different sprinkles for the cookies!!

The great thing about Gramma in a Box is everything is there and ready.  You just need to provide a microwave safe bowl, a spoon or two and of course a pair of scissors to snip the end of the icing bags.  You do need a microwave to melt the chocolate, unless you do it the old fashioned way. What a great way to spend some time with your grandchildren!

Gramma in a Box has a few different plans for receiving the subscription box.  You can find more information HERE on her website.  You can save $10 on your first box by enrolling in the auto debit subscription.  You must place your order by May 3rd to receive the May box.

Also she loves to see pictures and videos of Gramma in a Box in use, so be sure to share some to her social media pages!!

Charity and Giving to Others

Hey Neighbors!

Many people think about giving to charity around the holidays, but realistically, people need assistance year round, whether it is help with bills, medical expenses, groceries, or whatever other needs come up. Help your family to learn to give year round.  I know too that we have a tendency these days to question if the person in need is genuine and really needs help, because of all the counterfeits out there.  Many of us want to help, but we don't want to be taken advantage of or to be labeled a fool. A person approaches us for money for gas and we tend to question if we should help or not.

On way to avoid that, is to give to places that have a proven track record of assisting people.  Obviously some charities have been around for a long time, like: Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, American Red Cross, etc.  There are some more recent ones too, like Matt Redhawk, Miriam's Kitchen, Canine Partners for Life, and others.  Each of these charities assists people in different ways and with varying needs.  There are several organizations online that do your research for you regarding the validity of many charities.  Most of them can give you generalized information regarding the charity, how long they have been established and the type of work they accomplish.

When you are considering giving to charities you will need to decide if you will only give funds to one specific charity or if you prefer to divide it up among two or more.  An option would be to give a different charity each year.  Perhaps you could give as a family and all of you support the same charity for a specific time period and then choose another charity to support.

It is always good to start our children early on giving to others, so use this as a time to teach them.  Let them help decide what type of organization to give to.  Change it up once in awhile so they understand different needs.  If you can put up a picture on their dresser or perhaps on the refrigerator where they have a visual reminder about who they are helping.  If you can purchase a special container to put their funds in.  They can help go through old clothing and toys to donate to a local shelter or other ministry for those in need.  You can use this as a time to teach them to accept others and not look down on someone who does not have the same type of clothing or who is physically handicapped.  All this plays into giving.

Remember, giving does not just have to be money, you can also donate your time and skills.  Find out what local charities there are and see if your skills could assist them in some way.  Maybe cooking a meal, helping with child care, designing a website for the charity, running errands, whatever they might need done. Participate in the local fundraisers when possible.

Another thing I like to do when it comes to people on the street or who approach you for a meal or money for gas is go with them and actually make the purchase.  Go to the gas station and fill a gas can.  Take them to a restaurant and get them a burger, pizza or a couple of tacos.  My husband did this in a town we were visiting and took a gentleman into a pizza shop and bought him a pizza, large enough for two meals as well as purchased him a beverage.  I came up with the idea of purchasing a few $5 food gift cards to McDonalds, Wendy's or Taco Bell and carrying them with me for the times we see someone holding a sign or looking for assistance with a meal.  Try to come up with ideas like this that will work in your area.

I know some people prefer to give to local shelters and ministries so the funds help people in their own community.  Sometimes there is a local fundraiser for a family who has medical expenses or has lost their home.  Whichever route you decide to take with your giving, just jump in and get started.

Thanks for stopping by today to chat.  Please share your own ideas in the comments.

Memorable Things to Include in a Florida Vacation

Florida is a vacation destination with something for everyone. the best times to visit include spring and fall when the weather is cooler and the tourist crowd has thinned down. If you think Florida is all about the beaches, well, you are not entirely wrong, but there is so much more to explore.
Off the Beaten Path
With so many fun and unique dining opportunities all around you, don’t just settle for fast food or the same few you always choose. For something a little more unexpected, change things up a bit by spending an evening of suspense and intrigue on a Pinellas County Florida theater train ride. Colorful costumes, a five-course dinner and an interactive experience may make this one of the highlights of your vacation.

Oceans Views and Beach Bumming
Of course, sapphire skies and turquoise waters are a huge draw along Florida’s coastline. The white sugar sands on the beaches are ideal for building sand castles and shells of every description are scattered along the shores. Whether you are a sunbather, a swimmer, you want to frolic with the kids or just stroll along the water’s edge, you will enjoy each beach for it’s own unique features.

 Wildlife
Florida is a prime area for bird watching. In the mornings, listen for the twitter of songbirds including blue grosbeaks or scarlet tanagers. Along the beaches, Bonaparte’s gulls, snowy plovers, spot gull-billed terns, American oystercatchers, or swallow-tailed kites and even herons are frequent visitors.
Children may especially enjoy counting how many different kinds and sizes of lizards they see climbing walls and tree trunks or scampering along walkways. It is common to see the Florida scrub lizard and a variety of skinks along the path.
The biggest lizards are not really lizards at all. Alligators are reptiles and there is no shortage of them in Florida. You may spot a few as you drive the Big Cypress National Preserve and in several areas in the Everglades. They may even turn up at a local golf course, so keep your eyes open!

National Parks and Nature Preserves
There is no shortage of scenery in Florida. It is riddled with national parks and nature preserves where you may find a wide range of primitive looking plants in the wetlands and marshes. You may also see groves of Gumbo Limbo trees, royal palm and cypress trees. Again you may glimpse heron, egret, alligators and turtles.

So next time you plan a vacation to Florida, along with your swimming suit, pack some comfy touring clothes, walking shoes and maybe even an old time costume for the theater train because you are in for the ride of your life.

Kindle for Travel

#AD

Hey neighbors!!

I personally love to read on trips.  Since I don't drive, I can read a lot on a day trip.  We are soon taking a trip to the Creation Museum in Kentucky, which will give me plenty of time to read.  Now normally I am a hold a book in my hand type of reader, but on trips it is so easy to damage or lose the book.  A Kindle really helps on a trip, because it carries several books along for you to choose from.  It takes up very little space compared to physical books, and you can read at night.  I am considering picking up a Kindle just for trips.

With a Kindle in my hands I will be able to read the entire trip!!  Anyone have any recommendations?  Leave a comment.

Getting Through the Struggle

Hey neighbors!!

Not sure what you may be struggling with this week, but no matter what it may be there is always hope.  We have passed through a few trials this last year, and I have found myself reflecting on where we have been, what is presently happening, and where we are heading.  I saw a post the other day that really got me to thinking.  Someone stated that always saying, "I really don't have it as bad as some, so I should not be complaining." is not a good thing.  I really get where they are coming from, no matter what has happened to others, what has happened to you is still important.

You need to allow yourself time to adjust and come to terms with what has happened.  I see so many people who have lost a child, gone through a divorce, or been diagnosed with a lifelong illness and they need to be able to focus on themselves some.  Now, I am not saying they do not have to move forward and gain a new interest in life, but there is a time for grief and healing.  Keep your friends close and rely on your church family.  They are there for you and can help you through whatever struggle you may be having.

Divorce literally rips families apart.  Even without children a divorce is difficult, but the minute you add children it multiplies the pain and confusion.  Children often must choose one parent over the other.  They end up spending part of their time with one parent and then the rest of their time with the other.  This can seriously cause emotional problems for the children.  The very best thing that could happen if there is no alternative to a divorce is to keep it pleasant between both parents.  Do not make your children choose one over the other.  Get counseling when needed.  Choose a good attorney who will understand you are trying to keep the divorce as amicable as possible.  Search for a good attorney in your city or surrounding area, for example in Tampa search Tampa divorce attorney.  Then work your hardest to keep things as peaceful as possible.

Death of a spouse or child can be quite traumatic.  I have seen cases where a death has literally torn the entire family apart.  This is where even through the grieving process you need to be aware of where the other family members are in their mourning.  Make times to talk and remember.  It is more often when we close ourselves off that problems and depression occur.  Reach out to friends and spend time together even when you don't really feel like being around others.  Keeping yourself close to other family members and friends will be a blessing and may help you overcome those periods of darkness.  Have a friend or grief counselor you can call when you feel like you are losing ground.

Being diagnosed with an illness whether terminal, chronic or  just long term can really make you sit back and consider things.  Once again this is an area where you need to stay in touch with family and friends.  Let them know where you are and what needs you may have.  Do not feel bad if you require certain diet, assistance in getting up or down or special sleeping arrangements.  There is nothing wrong with taking care of yourself.  Do not be embarrassed to let others know of your needs.  Many make the mistake during this time of only reaching out to new friends who are experiencing the same illness or disease, or who have family members with the same issues.  Please hear me when I say there is nothing wrong with making new friends, but keep your old friends close as well.  Build a solid base of people you can reach out to for assistance and sometimes just to have a simple conversation.

I hope this helps encourage someone.  please feel free to share your thoughts and ideas in the comments.

Gerrard Larriett Pet Aromatherapy Products

Hi Neighbors!!

Today I have some wonderful products to share with you for your pet from Gerrard Larriett.  We received the Gerrard Larriet Aromatherapy Pet Spa in a Box.  We LOVE it!!  It includes the Unwinding Lotus Deodorizing Soy Candle, Lavender & Chamomile Aromatherapy Shampoo and Conditioner (in one), and the Lavender & Chamomile Aromatherapy Freshening and Shining Spray.

The candle, Unwinding Lotus, smells so very good.  I actually left it on my desk a day or two just to be able to smell it. My daughter used the candle in her room where her Golden Doodle spends a lot of time.  Sometimes, especially after playing outside she can get a little fragrant and the candle helped neutralize that odor, as well as other odors.  She got in the trash and became a little sick overnight one night and my daughter used the candle to help her room smell better.  The candle is worth purchasing even if you don't have a pet!

The Lavender & Chamomile Shampoo and Conditioner smells great too and leaves their coats, fragrant, soft and shiny.  Paisley doesn't mind a bath, but Buddy really does not care for his bath, but we managed to get pictures of both of them using this shampoo and conditioner.

Last but not least is the Lavender & Chamomile Aromatherapy Freshening and Shining Spray. This is perfect for when your dog needs a little help with their doggy smell.  It is also perfect to help soothe and relax them when they are feeling a little stressed.  Look at Jules in the pics below!!

Sort of an update here, the candle is gone.  My daughter and Jules loved the scent.  Our Lavender & Chamomile Shampoo and Conditioner is being used by all and is almost gone, as well as the Lavender & Chamomile Freshening and Shining Spray.

The above pictures show how these guys get dirty enough to need a bath!!  I am impressed with the quality of the Gerrard Larriet Aromatherapy Pet line.  If you are looking for a great shampoo for your dog take time to check them them out!

Hiring a Moving Company

Hiring a Moving Company
Have you recently sold your home? If this is the case, you will need to pack up your belongings and move them to your new place. However, this job might be a little too big for you or your family to handle on your own. You will then need to seek out the services of a professional moving company. However, it would be unwise to hire the first moving company that you see listed in your phone book. You need to understand that not all moving companies are the same. Do some research and read reviews. You will need to look into several moving companies to determine which one is the best. Here are a couple ways you can do that.

1. Get in touch with a few people who have hired moving companies in the recent past.
One of the best ways to determine the skill and reputation of a moving company is to talk to people who hired them. You should have these people give you the details about how well the moving company performed for them. Were any items damaged during the move? Did the movers carefully pack all of the items. Did they demonstrate skill and professionalism? Would they hire these movers again in the future. You might be able to get some good references from local movers Ann Arbor MI.
2. Make sure that the moving company is licensed and insured.
Never allow a moving company to start working before you verify the status of their license and insurance. It is very important for a moving company to be licensed because this means they have received all of the training that is mandated by your state. Your moving company needs to be insured in the event that they damage some of your possessions.
3. How much will the movers charge you?
The prices that are quoted to you by moving companies in your area can vary from reasonable to extremely expensive. This is why you need to take some time and call as many as you can, so you are well informed. Doing this will allow you to find the best bargain from a quality company that will save you some money.
Have any other great ideas?  Feel free to share them in the comments! Thanks for stopping by!

Pilgrim's Progress - Make Plans To See It!

Hey neighbors!!

I am sure you remember my recent post with the giveaway for the Pilgrim's Progress Digital Book.  Well, now I am sharing a bit about the movie, and we have another giveaway.  More about that in a moment.

I watched the new Pilgrim's Progress with my daughters and we really enjoyed it.  I was amazed, because often times when a movie is re-made, it is not as good as the first.  I have to say I was afraid that was going to happen with this one, but soon was totally engrossed in watching the old story unfold.  They stay well within the bounds of the original storyline.  The film is animated, and will hold your child's attention.  There are a couple scenes that might be a bit intense for very young children.  This film will help encourage you and your family to stay the course in their christian walk and can be used to open discussion about different trials we each can and will face in our life.  If you enjoy Pilgrim's Progress I highly recommend this movie to you and I am hoping for a sequel about his wife and children.  Remember it is only being shown 2 days, so make sure to check your schedule and get your tickets.  More about that below.

About:
Based on John Bunyan’s epic masterpiece, THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS is one of the most popular books of all time, and one of the most important stories of our faith! Second to the Bible in total copies and translations, the story was written by John Bunyan a pastor, imprisoned for sharing his faith.
This powerful allegory helps families understand the spiritual journey is the most important journey in life, as well as the importance of sticking to the path, even when the journey gets difficult

Teach Your Children About Finances Now

Hey neighbors!

It is extremely important that we teach our children the value of money and how to properly handle our finances.  As we have become an "I need it now" country, filled with people in debt using credit cards impulsively I see more and more how much we need to train our youth financial responsibility. Can you start too young, probably, but once they start earning an allowance or making money doing odd jobs, they need to start learning.  It is much easier to learn early, then to try and correct bad money habits.  I should know, because we fell into some of these pitfalls when we first got married.

So I am going to share a few tips and ideas to use to teach your children about finances.

1. Start early teaching them to save money.  You can open a children's savings account, or if you want something a little simpler, purchase a bank of some sort.

2. Teach them to work for money.  Have certain extra chores that they can do to earn money.  When I say extra, they should have a certain amount of chores they do without pay, just because they are part of the family and we all do chores around the home. Perhaps you could put up a chore chart with paying jobs.

3. Teach them about giving to others.  Whether it is donating toys to other children around the holidays, giving to a mission or church, you could even help them find an individual they actually know that they can help.

4. Help them learn to look for ways to earn money for larger purchases, like a bike.  Depending on their age, they can pull weeds, mow lawns, babysit, walk dogs, rake leaves, help around someone's home with cleaning, painting a fence, etc.

5. Once they are a little older, teach them how to create a budget, fill out checks, apply for a job.  Yes, I have seen people unable to do this because they were never shown how.

6. Have them write down exactly what they spend, every cent for a week, or even longer.  At the end of the time period you set up, sit down and help them see if there is somewhere they are either spending foolishly or where they could cut corners a little to save.  Money Savvy has a book, Cash Cache, that helps teach teens financial skills.

7. Have them start a change jar where they put all their change to save it up.  My children have been amazed by how much change they have at the end of a month when they go to a bank and turn it in.

8. Teach them to wait and plan for purchases that are out of their reach.  Many times they will appreciate something more if they worked to earn it rather than just have it handed to them because they want it.

By teaching them how to handle their funds, they may never end up in debt and in need of a company like Strategic Financial Solutions.  These companies are out there to help should you run into financial difficulties, but how much better to never need them.

I really hope this post helps someone to think about teaching their child about handling finances.  Some of the ideas in this post will also work for adults.

Giant Gummy Bears, Made in the USA!

Hey neighbors!!

Have you ever seen a GIANT Gummy Bear?  Well, I have.  This guy is huge!!  It is the world's largest gummy bear and he is made right here in the USA!!  How amazing is that!!

We received the Cherry flavored bear.  The minute you opened the package you could smell the cherry flavored bear.  He looks, smells and tastes delicious!!  He is over 1000 times the size of a regular, single Gummy Bear.  He tips the scale at a whopping 5 pounds and is considered to be 51 servings.  He stands 9.5" tall and is 5.5 inches wide.

Now, I have a son who is addicted to Gummy Bears, so we ended up giving this to him.  I have a feeling my grandson will be getting some it too!!  I am amazed by all the different options this company offers.  Not only do they have the World's largest Gummy Bear in cherry, but he comes in a variety of colors and flavors.  Then they have worms, skulls, brains, and hearts, all in large sizes.  If you are looking for smaller gummies, they carry a line of giant gummies that are around 2 pounds.  You should also check out their Fast Food Gummies.  I never knew there were so many gummy choices!!

Any one of their Gummy treats would make a great birthday or holiday gift.  And of course they are made in the USA!!

So neighbors, do you have a family member or friend who loves gummy foods?  If so, you need to visit the Giant Gummy Bears website.  I have a feeling you will be able to find what you are looking for!  Thanks for stopping by today!!  See you soon!
