It's the first beautiful day of summer, and you are ready to go soak up some rays. You have your sunglasses and swimsuit, but what are you forgetting? Here is a list of some other things you need to make your day at the beach easy and comfortable.
1. Safety Kit
Even the most idyllic locations can pose some dangers. A Red Cross first aid kit would be ideal. A safety kit for the beach should, at minimum, contain sunscreen, antiseptic wipes, bandages and bug spray.
2. A Place to Sit
A towel is a given for a beach outing, but why stop there? A portable chair can increase your lounging comfort, and an umbrella can provide a little bit of shade when you have caught your fill of basking in the sun. Or you might prefer a large blanket to recline on.
3. Appropriate Footwear
Your sneakers may seem comfortable in the car ride to the beach, but they may get too hot as the day progresses. Instead, you can wear your Pali Hawaiian Shoes when you're not running barefoot into the surf.
4. Entertainment
The idea of lying on the beach, doing nothing all day, may sound like bliss, but at some point you may want to have something to do. You can bring the new novel you've been meaning to read. If you are at the beach with a group, consider bringing a Frisbee or a volleyball and net.
5. Plenty of Water
Staying hydrated is important all the time, but it is especially necessary when you are spending a day outside in the sun. You can bring a cooler filled with individual water bottles or one gallon per person with reusable bottles you can fill throughout the day.
Hanging out on the beach all day can be fun no matter what you do. Being more prepared with creature comforts can help make it even better, though.
