Let’s be honest, it isn’t easy being active each day. We all know that it is so much better for us to have some form of healthy and active lifestyle, not over indulging too much with the junk or sugary foods, exercising a few times a week and generally taking good care of ourselves. However, it can be quite difficult to maintain this sort of lifestyle and with the recent holiday period now in the past, it is fair to say that many of us will be feeling less than our best when it comes to our energy levels and our waistlines. Setting Realistic Targets
Now is the time when many people set themselves targets for losing weight or getting more fit, partially because they may have set themselves a goal as part of the new year resolutions. It is also just as important to set yourself realistic targets to help you achieve that ultimate goal. You won’t lose a lot of weight over night, and you certainly won’t go from running nothing to a marathon within a week. You can set smaller obtainable goals for yourself, that will not only help you stay on track, but also keep you motivated to succeed in the long term. Resolutions should always be for long term gain, not short term failings. So ensure you keep everything in mind when you embark on the active lifestyle. Start off small, maybe walking somewhere instead of driving or choosing to be more active each day. You can slowly build this up over time.
Being Active Doesn’t Mean Daily Gym Sessions
Many people associate being more active with heading to the gym, but the truth is, gym sessions aren't for everyone. Some people feel motivated and pumped up in a gym environment, others can feel overwhelmed. So find something that works for you. Walking your dog, going for a run locally, or joining local fitness sessions within the community can all be great ways to stay active and increase your fitness levels without the worry or pressure of going to a gym.
Having the Right Gear and Equipment
It is all well and fine having the best intentions to make a your fitness dreams become a reality, but if you don’t have the right gear and equipment to help you do it, the journey can end as quick as it started. Therefore, you must invest in the right activewear and equipment to help you succeed. From the right running shoes to protect from injury to custom baseball uniforms to help you or others feel part of the team, make sure you do yourself a favour and invest in the right things first time. Not only does the right gear help you feel good, but it can also help you succeed and keep you safe from injury.
I hope that these ideas help you get more active in the new year.
