Hey neighbors!
Veteran's Day is almost upon us. I have been feeling lately, that a lot of people look upon this day as just another holiday or special sale day. I mean, I have already received sales flyers and other information on the great Veteran's Day sales. I am just wondering how many people really consider this holiday for what it stands for. All the men and women, who have given of their time and some their lives, so we can live in freedom, the way we do today. Take our recent election for an example. Many countries are not allowed to vote in their leaders.
So, do you do anything special to honor veterans on Veteran's Day? Do your children know what Veteran's Day is commemorative of?
We traveled for several years full-time on the road. While doing this we took as many opportunities that we could to visit historic sites, parks, museums and monuments. I am afraid though that when we went through Washington DC we missed many of the sights due to a lack of time. We did manage to visit a couple of the Smithsonian buildings. I wish we could have done more.
If you are traveling to DC, or live in the area, here are a few lesser known sights to see.
