Is Your Home Healthy?

Having a healthy home is very important, whether you live with your family or by yourself. Keeping yourself healthy is crucial, but if you don’t bother to make sure your home is healthy, it’s only a matter of time before you experience ill effects. It’s probably much easier than you think to keep a healthy home. Make sure you’re doing the things in this guide and it shouldn’t be a problem: Vacuum And Dust Regularly Dust can be more unhealthy than you realise, and it could be hiding in all kinds of places in your home. Make sure you don’t get a build up of the stuff by vacuuming and dusting regularly. Dust can actually trigger allergies for pets and young kids especially, so make sure you get into the habit of doing this. Ask Visitors To Take Off Their Shoes Although somebody might appear to be clean and polished, you don’t know where their shoes have been.  Asking them to take off their shoes before they enter your home is a reasonable request and will stop things bein

Splendid Security Suggestions for a Safer Property!

It’s vital to look for ways of making your home more secure. There is so much involved in this these days. And you need to take extra precautions because there are more risks to your property than ever before. Take a look at the ideas I’ve listed on here, and use them to work towards a safer and more secure home. Double Glazing Pic These days if your home doesn’t have double glazing you need to change this. It’s important to think about the benefits of double glazed windows . Of course, some properties won’t allow you to do this because they are listed buildings. But, if you can do it then you need to make sure you get double glazing. There are so many benefits to doing this such as trapping in heat, and, importantly, extra security. It’s very difficult to try to break into a home with double glazed windows. So you already put your property in a much safer and more secure position by doing this. Garden Fence Source Your garden is an area of the

Little Fixes That Will Make A Big Impact On The Sale Of Your Home

Picture Location As the old saying goes, the devil is in the details. This is something that you should keep in mind when you’re selling your home . When you start showing your house to buyers you want to achieve two things. First, you want them to be impressed and fall in love with the property immediately. Hopefully, they’re already wondering how high they can go by the time they leave. Second you want that impression to mean that they’re not thinking about haggling. They know this property is going to sell fast. Instead, they’re already happy to offer the price you want to sell at, and they will outbid any other buyer. That’s what you want. That’s the dream scenario. But to get that you need to think about the little things. Let me show you exactly what I mean. Paint The Walls Credit Source You might think that the walls of your property are not that important. What does it matter if there are a few hand marks in the hall? The walls will be repainted as soon as they

Homemade Apple Pie-Easy As Pie! #Recipe

Have you ever wondered where the term "easy as pie" came from? To many people it may seem like an odd phrase, because let's be honest, many people prefer the ease of popping a frozen pie in the oven for an hour, or picking one up at their local grocery store. The phrase actually came not from the pie preparation though, but from the consumption, and is used to describe a task that is simple and pleasurable. I'm sure we would all agree, eating pie is both simple and pleasurable! Recently I was asked to make an apple pie for someone who doesn't bake, but wanted to taste a homemade pie. Of course I gladly obliged, and took pictures of each step so I could be sure to share it with our readers. This will take you a little longer than running to Perkins or putting that Sara Lee in the oven, but be assured it is well worth the extra effort. The taste of homemade apple pie can not be beat! Ingredients: 2 1/4 cups Flour plus 1 tablespoon, divided 1 tablespoon Sugar

Orkin Mosquito Summer Scientist Giveaway

Hey neighbors! It is that time of year again!  Spring is here and with it comes BUGS!  We have already seen ants in the house, and soon our evenings outside will be filled with mosquitos.  It is sort of funny, because our family is divided on this.  About half of us are the chosen mosquito bait.  No matter what, we are the ones who get bitten. We were camping one year and we were sitting out at the picnic table.  Two of us started smacking at mosquitos immediately as they were landing on our arms and legs.  I told my husband that we needed to head inside.  He asked why, and was totally amazed that we were getting bitten and not a single mosquito bothered him. Orkin is on hand to try and help you beat the mosquito season.  Take the quiz below and then in a comment share something you have learned.  This allows you to enter the giveaway for a Orkin Summer Scientist Bug Catching Kit. Here are some social media links, where you can connect with Orkin: Orkin on Facebook:

Wonderfully Made by Danika Cooley

Hey neighbors! I previously shared a little about this book and a giveaway that was going on.  Now, I would like to share a little more about this book.  I believe now, more than ever in the past we need to ground our children in Biblically sound teachings.  This book, Wonderfully Made , by Danika Cooley tells how a child is formed from the time of conception to birth.  The book is done keeping the innocence of your child in mind. The book follows a week by week description of the baby's formation and development.  I would suggest the book for ages 7 and up, but you could use it with younger children to share the pictures and explain some of the growth and development in your own words.  I love that she gives examples of common items to compare the size of the baby, so your child can get a visual image in their minds. Danika includes Bible verses throughout the book.  I personally use only KJV, but it is so easy to just look the verse up and read out of my own Bible, th

Earth Day April 22nd

Hey neighbors! Earth Day is April 22nd.  We recently as a family have been looking for different ways to be more eco-friendly.  For some reason spring hits and we feel the need to start fixing up, cleaning up and making changes to the home.  Some are minor, like cleaning and changing filters, while others are more major like, making sure the home is properly sealed to cut down on cooling bills. No matter what you have decided to do this year, or what you can afford, try to consider when you make changes and improvements that you look at ideas for  going green .  Whether you have a large budget or a small budget going green can lower your bills and of course be eco friendly. Amazing to me is that Earth Day actually began in 1970.  I was all of 6 years old!  There have been so many changes since then in how people look at going green.  The majority of Americans back then were not exactly eco-friendly.  Now there is a whole movement of people who strive to "Go green." Then

Handy Drop Stop

Hey neighbors! How many of you have ever dropped an item in your vehicle and had it disappear down the side of the seat?  I know we have dropped many a cell phone and had it slide down between the seat and the center console.  Then you try to maneuver your body around to try and reach it.  This of course is especially dangerous for the driver.  We have also had it slide down and end up at the driver's feet.  Not exactly where you want something sliding around. So, along comes Drop Stop .  A neat little invention that fills the opening between your seat and your center.  One end has a slit in it, so you can slip it over the seatbelt buckle to help hold it in place.  You sort of wedge the Drop Stop between your seat and center, or between two seats.  The Drop Stop is a soft, stuffed, tube that squeezes between your seat and completely blocks anything from sliding down.  It will fit many different makes and models of vehicles. I had it pulled up a little, so you could see i

8 Simple Tools for Raising Great Kids Review

Hi neighbors! Here is a book review of 8 Simple Tools for Raising Great Kids by Dr. Todd Cartmell.  The 8 tools consist of talking, listening, influencing, connecting, teaching, encouraging, correcting, and leading.  These tools are for parents, each section will give you hints and tips to on how to respond and interact with your child. Yes, I do agree with most of the points, but I have some issues when it comes to using psychology over Bible.  When I get advice on child training and other issues in life, I prefer to have Bible given to back up what is being taught. Now, with that being said, this book does bring many helpful ideas forward that will help in different areas of raising your children.  Tips like not raising your voice, actually listening to what your child says, etc. If you are interested in purchasing this book, I have a code you can use to receive 50% off your purchase.  The code is good until May 15th.  Use this code: GREATKIDS16 I received this

Homemade Oladi (Pancakes) with Fresh Berry Syrup! #Recipe

I absolutely love breakfast. In fact, I often eat breakfast foods for lunch and/or dinner...or even for a snack! When I found a recipe for thick, fluffy pancakes recently, I knew it was something I had to try.  Not much can beat a hot puffy pancake topped with blueberry syrup. And when you can make these pancakes and syrup at home, it's even better! Let's start out with the pancakes. This is actually a Russian recipe, and the traditional name is Oladi. I made mine with crushed pecans, but you can add just about any kind of fruit, nuts, or even chocolate chips if you'd like. Before you decide to hop up and make these for breakfast this morning, please note that you do have to let the batter rise twice, for about half an hour each time. The wait is well worth it, but don't plan on making these if you only 20 minutes! Ingredients: 1 cup Milk, warm 1/4 tablespoon Yeast 1-1/2 plus 1/6 cup Flour 2 tablespoons Sugar 1 Egg, beaten 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil Dash Sa
