Singing at Sea 2016! {Photos} Part 1

Hello Neighbors!   Modesty here today with another photography feature.  This time I want to feature some photos from the SAS2016.  For those of you un-familiar with the SAS --- the Singing at Sea is a family-friendly (all bars, casinos, etc. are closed down for the duration) Christian cruise vacation that features 25 of your favorite Southern Gospel Artists (such as Tribute Quartet, the Inspirations, the Kingsmen, the LeFevre Quartet, the Kingdom Heirs, the Mark Trammel Quartet, Soul'd Out Quartet, Wilburn & Wilburn, etc.). My three sisters and myself had a very memorable five days full of fun, food (you will not leave hungry, that's for sure!), fellowship, teaching, singing, and wonderful time with friends.  All of the following photos were taken by me, and if you're interested you can see more at www.memoriesbymodesty.com .  Part 1 will be featuring some photos of and around the ship, and in following parts we will feature the ports, the food, the singing, e

The BEST Banana Pudding #Recipe!!

Banana pudding is a southern delicacy. A southern "thang" that a lot of northerners may not understand the appeal of - until they try that first bite! It is definitely one of my favorite desserts, and I recently came across a recipe that I played around with a bit and it turned out what I have to say is probably the best I've ever had! Whether you've never tasted or maybe even never heard of banana pudding before, or whether it's one of your family's staple desserts, you will want to try this version. There's not much that can compete with the cool, creamy goodness of pudding, bananas, and cookies all combined in one delicious pan! Ingredients: 1 box Nilla Wafers 2 tablespoons Butter, melted 6-8 Bananas 12 oz. Whipped Topping, thawed 14 oz. Sweetened Condensed Milk 8 oz. Cream Cheese, softened Large-size box French Vanilla Instant Pudding Mix 2 cups Milk Directions: Crush about 40 cookies (approximately half the box, I use my Ninja on th

GoOrganic Candies

Hey neighbors! Do you worry about what your family is eating?  Concerned about the snacks your children are having?  Then take a moment to check out these GoOrganic candies from Hillside Candy (Confections for a healthy lifestyle.).  They have fruit snacks, chews (that are sort of like taffy), and hard candies in this line.  Hillside Candy also has sugar free candy, GoLightly, a sister brand to GoOrganic. Of course when I open a box filled with bags of different flavored candies my whole family got excited.  For instance, my daughters wished they had the ginger flavored ones on the cruise they recently went on.  They took ginger capsules with them because they heard that ginger was good to help keep you from feeling sick.  They would have much rather taken a Ginger Chew or hard candy. One of my daughters thought the Fruit Medley, organic fruit snacks were the best!  These are gummy, chewy snacks, made with real fruit, include 100% of your vitamin C requirements

When it comes to designing a new kitchen, you can go wild with your imagination. You need to design something that not only matches the rest of your home but is practical for everyday use. You’re going to be spending a lot of time in here, so you want something you can be happy with. However you proceed, you should be able to find something useful in our tips to help you throughout the process. It can be a pretty overwhelming task at times, so let’s simplify it for you. Design Well, duh! We’re obviously discussing the design of a new kitchen, but I want to focus specifically on how you make it look. We’re not talking about practicality here; this is about how satisfied you feel when you walk into the room and see that design. So, let’s think about a few things you could consider. What are you going to do to the walls? Are they currently bare? Are you going to paint over them to match the rest of your house? You could always tile the walls to add a bit of variety. Browse some

Interview With Erin Krakow

Hey y'all, This is in interview I've been really excited about since its with one of the lead actresses from one of my favorite tv shows - When Calls The Heart.  So without further ado here is my interview with the talented Erin Krakow! 1. What made you want to become an actor? My mom says it started when my little brother was born (I was 5 and a half) and I suddenly had to share the attention. I’ve been putting on shows for a long time! I’ve always loved creating characters, telling stories, and getting to take an audience on an emotional journey. The heart called ;) 2. Is it hard to be away from home while filming When Calls The Heart? There are certainly things I miss about home while I’m filming: family, friends, SUNSHINE (so far we’ve filmed mainly in the winter), but I love what I do and for that reason it really isn’t too great a challenge. I think it’s important to stay present and appreciate what’s in front of you - otherwise you end up missing out on a lot of joy. I’

How to Have a Stress Free Family Day Out

A stress free family day out isn’t just something that exists in fairytales. You too can have your very own stress free family day out if you just use the tips in this guide. Going out with the whole family can be daunting, but with a little pre planning everybody can have an incredible time. Pack the Right Supplies To have the best family day out, you need to make sure you have everything you need with you to have a good time. You don’t want to lug around a huge suitcase full of supplies, but it’ll help if you have a few things that could help you to have a better time. For example, you could have snacks and drinks to make sure you don’t need to stop for food if hunger strikes. Staying hydrated is important too. You could also pack some plasters and first aid supplies, so you’re prepared if one of your little ones has a fall - this happens all the time on days out, no matter how careful you are. You could also take a toy or two to keep them occupied if you stop somewhere for a

My Son Graduated Military Police School!

Hey neighbors! Well, we went for my son's graduation from his military police school.  He has done super!  He has completed basic and his MP school now.  As a reservist he is now home and making plans on how to continue his education for law enforcement.  We were able to spend several hours with him on Family Day, the day before graduation.  Then after graduation he was able to come home! He presently has a job, but is looking for one that will assist his future goals of working in law enforcement.  He is also checking out some of the other college courses available both locally and online. He is reaching for his goals and working to make them reality.  Way to go son!

Rubber Duckie and Friends product review!

Hello Everybody! I was asked by the ladies here At the Fence  to write a review for a Hippie the Hippo shower head from Rubber Duckie and Friends ! But before I review this adorable product, let me tell you a little about myself. :) My name is Megan. I'm the oldest of nine kids and I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for me! Serving Him is better than anything else in this life. That's me on the right. Ok so now that that's over with, let's continue! I received a Hippie the Hippo  from Rubber Duckie and Friends . I thought that installing it would be a little tricky. But since we already had a hose hooked up to our shower head it was a breeze! Now for those of you who would have to connect the hose the process will take a little longer but should be no trouble at all. And think of your chubby faced child and how excited they'll be when it's all hooked up! As you can see in the first photo  Hippie the Hippo comes with a hol

How To Pull Off A Spring Clean At Short Notice

Spring is an ideal time to give your home a thorough clean and de-clutter. But what happens if you get a call from visitors before you’ve had time to throw out the rubbish and clear out the spare room? If you’re panicking about impending guests, here is a guide to help you achieve the perfect spring clean in no time at all. Focus on the main rooms If you’re short on time, focus on the rooms that you use every day and the areas your guests will see. If you have a study, which never gets used or you haven’t been in the garage for months, leave these until later. Grab a big bag The first thing to do when you’re cleaning is to tidy up and get rid of any trash. A five-minute whizz around will often make a huge difference. Store away toys, clothes and shoes neatly and throw away anything you don’t need or want. If you’re struggling for time, store away bags of miscellaneous items in the garage and sort them out once your guests have left. Vacuum Once you’ve cleared your room

Let's Find The Perfect Home For Your Family

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Finding the perfect home for you or your family is difficult. Why is this? Well, first we all have an image of our perfect home. Come on, you know you do. For me it would probably have an indoor pool and a beautiful balcony, connected to  the bedroom. From there, I could overlook a gorgeous green landscape. But this is a pipe dream and I know it is for two reasons. The first is if that house is on the market, I’m not going to be able to afford it. As much as I’d love to say I have a few million to spend on a house like that...I don’t. The only way I could buy that is if I purchased it as an investment. I would then rent it out and eventually pay off the massive price it cost. But that’s not going to be an attractive option for most people. No one wants to be trapped under that amount of debt. Besides, if that house does exist it’s probably no where near where I live now and that’s a problem. So, how do you find the perfect home for your f

Perfect Hair with Number 4 Hair Care Products! #Review #NoBadHairDays

Getting the perfect hair can be a difficult task...something most women would agree on, I'm sure! Overall my hair is actually pretty easy to manage, but then again, the majority of the time I'm going casual in a ponytail or braid-one of the perks of working from home. For church or special events however, I like to put a little more effort into it. Generally I don't do fancy styles; I usually opt for some variation of a half updo. What is hard is finding the right products to give my hair the shine, bounce, and definition I want. Enter Number 4 High Performance Hair Care, and their amazing Texture Styling Creme! I received the Valentine's Day Gift Set from N.4 Hair Care, which includes the Texture Styling Creme, and bonus gifts of their Mighty Hair Spray and Fluoro5 Elixir Restore and Repair Oil. The Texture Creme has become my go-to product. Even on days I don't do any real styling, I love to use this in my hair! After towel drying my hair I apply a small a
