Fun In Louisville #2-The Arctic Scoop! #IceCream

Today's Louisville feature is, without a doubt, one of my favorites for two reasons. First of all, I just love ice cream! I've tried to cut back a little, but believe me when I say I could easily eat ice cream every single day without ever getting tired of it. The second reason I loved this visit so much is because it was so unique! Let me explain a little bit about The Arctic Scoop first, and you'll see what I mean. " Ice Cream has always been fun to eat, but now it is just as much fun to make. With the use of Liquid Nitrogen, as a freezing agent, we are able to custom make your ice cream right in front of your eyes. As we chill your cream, a cold cloud forms and we mix your cream into the freshest ice cream available." We visited on a Friday evening after dinner, and were each able to choose an ice cream. You can choose form premium or low fat ice cream, or frozen yogurt, soy cream, or almond ice as your base. Then you can choose a flavor and add-ins.

Lindy & Company Gourmet Dog Treats - Petacular!

Hello Neighbor! Good to see you today.  I recently received some Gourmet Dog Treats from Lindy & Company .  Boy were our dogs excited!  They LOVE when they get the opportunity to try new treats.  The unique thing about these treats is that not only are you getting some special treats for your pets, you are also helping homeless youth.  Lindy & Company treats are homemade by homeless youth and young adults.  There is an estimated 550,000 youth in the United States every year that are homeless and that number climbs to 2 million if you count those that go from home to home sleeping wherever they can.  Daybreak, a non-profit in Ohio created Lindy & Company that teaches youth and young adults valuable work skills so they can get off the streets and never have to end up there again. Did our dogs like these gourmet treats?  Just take a look at the pictures and you will see.  Both Glory and Belle, would not leave my side until the dog treats were totally put away.  They

DiBella's Subs-The Best In The World! #FoodieFriday #Subs

Long ago and far away, in the town of Rochester....Sorry, this isn't a fairy tale, but the food I'm about to share with you is good enough to be one!! Let me start over.  About 10 years ago, we were visiting friends in the Rochester, NY area. These friends happened to know how much we all loved sub sandwiches, and kept mentioning a place called DiBella's. Of course we had to visit, and that turned into a family ritual; any time we were in New York, we had to stop at DiBella's at least once. Fast forward to 2015, when we now live in the midwest, haven't been to New York in 4 years, and there are no DiBella's Old-Fashioned Submarines within 100 miles. As we were planning a trip to Indianapolis and Louisville a few weeks ago, I was checking out food options. (Sign of a real foodie, I know. I always have to know where we can eat on any trip!). Would you believe I learned there are actually 3 DiBella's locations in Indianapolis? I was, to put it mildly, ecst

Fun In Louisville #1-HomeTown Buffet #Giveaway

Last week our family took a trip to Louisville, KY. Our main reason for going was to attend the National Quartet Convention Spring Break event, but we also enjoy shopping in the Louisville area, and eating at some restaurants that aren't around the small-town midwest! One of these is HomeTown Buffet ; I believe our closest location is over 2 hours away, so when I learned there was one literally right across the street from our hotel, and they offered some guest passes for review (and a giveaway!) I was excited! Upon entering the HomeTown Buffet we were greeted by a young man who "took our order" (asked if we'd like beverages with our meal, etc.) and then seated ourselves. Our server was a very friendly lady who introduced herself as Granny, and proceeded to chat for a couple minutes. Not all restaurants have servers this polite and friendly, so we enjoyed someone who did more than just grunt when you ask a question! For most of us, the first stop was the s

Scott Naturals Tube Free and Earth Day

Hey neighbors! How many of you celebrate Earth Day?  We don't really do much of anything, butI do have to say that when Scott Naturals reached out, I was interested.  Now, I may not do this for the same reason you do, but when I can cut down on the amount of garbage and throw away items leaving my home, I try to do it.  For example, we use re-usable water jugs and fill our water bottles.  We re-cycle our cans and bottles from soda.  We also try to re-use all the boxes and manilla envelopes sent to us.  Yes, I save bubble wrap and other filler to re-use. So, Scott Naturals has a tube free toilet paper.  No more cardboard tube to throw away, or try to come up with a new use for.  We used to have hamsters and they loved them, but no more hamsters.   The benefit of the Tube Free roll is obvious.  Were you aware there are 17 billion toilet paper tubes used every year?  That is amazing! Would you be interested in trying the Scott Naturals Tube Free Toilet Paper?  If so, they h

ARTistic Pursuits - The Elements of Art and Composition

Hey neighbors! We have a really good art curriculum we recently reviewed to share with you.  It is High School 9-12, Book 1:The Elements of Art and Composition from ARTistic Pursuits .  This book is recommended for grade 9-12 and is Book One in the series.  The second book is Color and Composition.  I sure would have loved a course like this when I was younger as I doodled all the time! Both of my youngest daughters (14 and 17), enjoy drawing.  I suppose it is because we have spent so much time together drawing, coloring and such, but both have an interest in learning more about pencil drawing.  So when we were offered this course I jumped on it. We had most of the needed supplies, but I recommend you prepare ahead of time.  For the first semester you will need: 1 - Drawing Pencil Set (from 2H to 4B 1 - Vinyl Eraser 1 - Metal Handheld Sharpener 1 - Drawing Pad (Make sure it is a good quality of paper, as this makes a difference.) The second semester requires a few ot
