Motivate Your Child - Just Released!

Hey neighbors!

I have a really informative book to share with you!  It is called Motivate Your Child, by Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller.  They are the founders of the National Center for Biblical Parenting.  I know many of you may be thinking, "Another parenting book", but this is not just a parenting book, this book helps you learn how to build internal motivation in your child.

How many times have you just done their chore, or picked up after them because it was easier than, nagging, I mean reminding?  In this book you will learn ways to change your way of thinking as well as your child's.  The book will not produce instant, miraculous changes, but as you change your thinking and responses, your child will too.

Wouldn't it be great to have children who can do what they need to without being told?  You need to reach your child's conscience and then encourage them to allow their conscience to help them overcome their personal weaknesses.

One chapter I really like is When Kids Make Mistakes.  It gives you questions to ask your child.
1. What did you do wrong?
2. Why was that wrong?
3. What are you going to do differently next time?
You end the discussion by telling them to go ahead and try again.  Realize that each of these questions open room for some discussion, you are not just firing the questions off at the child, take time to respond, help them to admit to wrong doing, and then have them think about how they could have changed what was done.  Encourage and lead, but don't just give them the answers.  Use a Bible verse to help them understand why their actions, speech, or response was incorrect.

Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller will give you the tools you need to bring about change.  There are many suggestions that will help you make changes.  There are also several activities and games that help ingrain the lessons you are trying to teach your child.

Remember that this is also a spiritual battle.  Motivate Your Child is based on Scripture and living the Christian life before your child.  There are chapters on leading your child to the Lord, children and the Holy Spirit, and connecting children to the Bible.  Each of these chapters contain spiritual truths that will help your entire family.

If you are interested in reading Motivate Your Child, you can find it HERE on Amazon.  Also be sure to enter the giveaway that ends February 2.

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back. 10 Things You Need To Do Before Moving Abroad

From There is nothing more fulfilling than travelling the world and visiting new and exciting places. If you’re a fan of travel , then you might have thought about moving abroad at some point. Unfortunately, there is a lot to do before you can get on the plane, with finding accommodations and a job being the most important. If you’re moving abroad soon, or think that it’s something that you’d like to do in the future, then here are ten things that you need to do before you start your new life. 1. Visit The Country Plenty of people move abroad without visiting the country first. Although this is fine to do, as long as you’ve done plenty of research on the country, it makes much more sense to visit the country first. This way you can get used to the culture, and will know in advance whether or not the country is somewhere that you’d actually like to live. 2. Research The Country You need to do lots of research before you move abroad, especially if you haven’t visited the count
