Motivate Your Child - Just Released!

Hey neighbors!

I have a really informative book to share with you!  It is called Motivate Your Child, by Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller.  They are the founders of the National Center for Biblical Parenting.  I know many of you may be thinking, "Another parenting book", but this is not just a parenting book, this book helps you learn how to build internal motivation in your child.

How many times have you just done their chore, or picked up after them because it was easier than, nagging, I mean reminding?  In this book you will learn ways to change your way of thinking as well as your child's.  The book will not produce instant, miraculous changes, but as you change your thinking and responses, your child will too.

Wouldn't it be great to have children who can do what they need to without being told?  You need to reach your child's conscience and then encourage them to allow their conscience to help them overcome their personal weaknesses.

One chapter I really like is When Kids Make Mistakes.  It gives you questions to ask your child.
1. What did you do wrong?
2. Why was that wrong?
3. What are you going to do differently next time?
You end the discussion by telling them to go ahead and try again.  Realize that each of these questions open room for some discussion, you are not just firing the questions off at the child, take time to respond, help them to admit to wrong doing, and then have them think about how they could have changed what was done.  Encourage and lead, but don't just give them the answers.  Use a Bible verse to help them understand why their actions, speech, or response was incorrect.

Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller will give you the tools you need to bring about change.  There are many suggestions that will help you make changes.  There are also several activities and games that help ingrain the lessons you are trying to teach your child.

Remember that this is also a spiritual battle.  Motivate Your Child is based on Scripture and living the Christian life before your child.  There are chapters on leading your child to the Lord, children and the Holy Spirit, and connecting children to the Bible.  Each of these chapters contain spiritual truths that will help your entire family.

If you are interested in reading Motivate Your Child, you can find it HERE on Amazon.  Also be sure to enter the giveaway that ends February 2.

Purity. Organic Fruit Juices! #Giveaway #FoodieFriday

Our family loves fruit juices. Orange and grape juice are probably at the top of the list of favorites, but I enjoy trying new flavors as well. One thing that I try to look for is pure, natural juices without all the added sugar. Juices that are actually good for you, not just sugar water with artificial fruit flavor added in! When I discovered Purity. Organic Juices, I was thrilled. They have a great selection of different flavors, as well as super juices, coconut waters, and even fruit-flavored teas!

I received a box with a variety of Purity. Juices; Strawberry Paradise, Apple, Kale-Coconut Water-Apple-Spinach Superjuice, Orange-Carrot-Turmeric-Mango Superjuice, and a Coconut Water. The first beverage I tried was the Strawberry Paradise. I'm a huge fan of raspberry and blackberry lemonade, so I knew this Strawberry Lemonade would be great-and it was! That was no surprise, but I was surprised at how good simple apple juice can be when it's made right. I've never been a big apple juice fan, probably because I just never tasted a really good one-until now. This is 100% juice, no added sugar, and made with fresh Gravenstein apples. The result is simply wonderful!

The Superjuices are a unique blend of fruits and vegetables, and really are a super drink! No added sugar and not from concentrate, the flavor may sound a little odd at first (who would have thought mixing kale with apple would taste good?) but they're healthy and refreshing. My personal favorite was the orange-carrot-turmeric-mango. This one had a nice spicy hint, yet the fruit gives it a sweetness without needing sugar!

The one thing I didn't try was the coconut water. I don't eat coconut, and yes, I've tried coconut water because I've heard how good it is for you. Unfortunately, I just can't do it. However, M LOVES coconut, so she was glad to try this out. Apparently, it's very good!

All in all, I am now a fan of Purity. Organic juices. The apple honestly stands out as my favorite, even though it's so simple, but they're all good. If you want seriously good-and good for you-fruit juices, I recommend you try Purity. And here's your chance!

One of my readers will receive a variety box of Purity. Organic Juice!!

Mike and Ike Two Popular Retro Flavors

Hey neighbors!

I am sure many of you remember the Mike and Ike candies from your childhood days.  They have just released two of their retro flavors that will only be available for a short time, so of course I had to share this with you.

My family os actually divided over which of the two flavors they like best.  The first is Root Beer Float, and yes, everyone agrees it actually tastes like root beer float.  The second is Cotton Candy.  Several members of the family think Root Beer Float is hands down the best flavor, while my other sweet tooth children, believe the Cotton Candy is the sweetest tasting!

I do have to add that our kitten and one Sheltie liked them too!  No, we did not give them to them on purpose, but someone spilled a few.  Pansy our Sheltie ate one, and Trixie our kitten decided they were perfect to bat around the room and chase.

Mike and Ike have been around since they were first introduced in 1940.  Many people have grown up enjoying Mike and Ike candy.  Now, you have the opportunity to share these great flavors with your children and others who may never have had the chance to taste the Mike and Ike Root Beer Float or Cotton Candy flavors!  Hurry out and grab a few boxes before they disappear.  Both flavors will be available in a 5 oz. box with a SRP of $1.00 - $1.39.

Thanks for stopping by and while you are here, enter for a chance to receive a box of each flavor delivered right to your home!  See you soon!  Mandatory entry - Tell us if you are Root Beer Float or Cotton Candy!

WorkIt Wednesday : Core Power Review + Giveaway!

Hey Everyone!

How are y'all doing today?  We are doing great!  Sorry I have missed a couple WorkIt Wednesdays, but we are still in the process of moving furniture and such around in the house.  Today, I want to introduce a AWESOME product for those of you that are aware of the need for protein.  Obviously protein is necessary for everyone, but especially for those that are more active.  So...... Introducing....

Core Power

I received three different flavors of Core Power to review... Chocolate, Banana, and Strawberry Banana 20g.  I am really trying to work on my health and fitness.  I started towards the end of last year, and I am seeing major progress.  I am trying to have at least one bigger work out each day, along with my TaeKwonDo.  I have tried multiple post workout shakes, drinks, etc., but with the exception of one or two, most pretty dis-tasteful!  They are either way to powdery, taste disgusting, etc.  Are you still not sure about the answer to the whole "What's best to have after a workout?".  I'm not!  My answer is now Core Power!

Here is just a little bit of information about Core Power... "A delicious post workout recovery drink for your active lifestyle, Core Power is a real milk protein drink made from fresh, lowfat, lactose-free milk and real honey. Its balanced protein to carb ratio and nutrient-rich profile make for the perfect end of every workout. From endurance sports and bodybuilding to running, yoga and cross-fit, Core Power helps you recover faster, build lean muscle and stay at the top of your game. No matter which game you happen to play."

Out of the three flavors I received, the Strawberry Banana 20g was my favorite!  I was pleasantly surprised, because usually I like anything that is chocolate flavored, and I really don't care for strawberries.  However, the Strawberry Banana 20g is very tasty.  As my sisters so aptly put it, "It tastes like Strawberry Milk!!".  Although the Strawberry Banana 20g is my favorite, the others also taste great.  The regular flavors contain 26 grams of protein (that's over half of your recommended daily intake!), and the light flavors contain 20 grams (half of your recommended daily).  The regular have 240 calories, while the light have 150 calories, so if you are also trying to watch your calories, go purchase some of the light.  They taste great, I promise!

I have had to keep an eye out, because several members in my family like to "help me review" these protein drinks.  Back off... these are all mine!  :D  So, if you are looking at how to get your extra protein, or searching for a post workout snack/refreshment, check them out!  You can purchase any of their various flavors on Core Power website.  You can also Like them on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter to stay up to date with their latest news.

Core Power is Giving away 2 Cases of Core Power!

I received no monetary compensation for this review.  I did receive product for review purposes only.  All thoughts and opinions are mine.  All text in red is taken from the sponsor's website.

True Air-Tight Kitchen Storage from AirScape!! #Review #FoodieFriday

Airtight storage containers seem to be a dime a dozen nowadays. At least, containers that claim to be airtight. But did you know that most "airtight" containers really don't do the job? Why? Because they might keep air out once you put the lid on, but all the air already inside the container stays locked in there-with your sugar of flour-until the next time you open it! You're actually locking in the air that destroys the freshness of your food!

I'll be honest; this is something I never even thought of until I learned about AirScape food storage kitchen canisters, the truly airtight storage canisters from Planetary Designs. I received the 64oz AirScape canister in Mocha for review. This is an amazing item! An AirScape canister comes with two lids. The inner lid is actually a valve that forces all the air out of the container. Simply pop the handle up, push the lid down to the level of the sugar or whatever you're storing inside, then push the handle down. With the clear lid on top, and you can easily check the content amount, but the dark inner lid/valve removes air, locks air out, and also blocks UV light from reaching the ingredients!

Another aspect of the AirScape food storage kitchen canisters I think is great is that the stainless steel is odor resistant. Have you ever stored coffee in a container only to get to the bottom and find you'll never be able to put anything BUT coffee in there again? Just happened to me yesterday! Not with AirScape though, not even coffee seeps into the pores of this kitchen canister!

Honestly, AirScape containers have to be the best I have ever seen for kitchen storage. I'm thinking of slowly weeding out all my plastic canisters and eventually using only AirScape for our kitchen storage!!

Drainwig, A Handy Little Gadget

Hi Neighbors!

I have a neat little gadget to share with you, called a Drainwig.  This is one of those wonderful little inventions that you wonder why you never had one before.  First let me explain here, that we have 5 females in our family, all with long hair.  That makes for some major drain problems occasionally.  We have had to remove several large hairballs that have created blockage in the pipes.  I have tried one of the drain covers, but every time someone wants to take a bath we have to remove it, and it doesn't always get put back in place.

Now, here is the idea of the Drainwig, you insert the chain with the small plastic whiskers hanging off, down your drain.  The Anchor or Flower, whichever you are using, prevents the product itself from going down your drain.  The chain and whiskers then catch hair as it goes down the drain.  Depending on the amount of hair that ends up in the drain you can replace your Drainwig every few months.  For those with a strong stomach, you can pull the Drainwig out of the drain and remove the hair buildup with scissors or your fingers (wearing rubber gloves of course).  If you prefer, you can just throw away the Drainwig and insert a new one.

There are two different Drainwigs available.  The Flower is designed for a shower stall, where the Anchor is designed for a tub.  The Anchor has a small suction cup on the back that you attach to the side of your tub.  This will allow the small thin plastic to be where your drain closes.

You can see how great these little things could be.  Now, of course I haven't pulled mine out yet, I just got them, but perhaps I can update when I do, so you can see how they worked.  You can purchase Drainwigs, HERE.  You will receive 4 for $19.95. (Free shipping)  And I have a code you can use for $5 off.  Just enter the code FIZZ5.  The number 5 at the end, not an s.

One neighbor will receive a set of Drainwigs.  They come 4 to a pack, either 4 of the same kind, or two of each.  Enter the giveaway now.

Brown Sugar Saver Review and #Giveaway!! #FoodieFriday

How many times have you started mixing up your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, only to find your brown sugar is - literally - as hard as a rock?! We've all been there, right? I actually started throwing out any unused brown sugar about 3 weeks after opening, simply because I don't like having those little lumps of brown sugar in the finished product. Yes, it ends up wasting a certain amount, but what else can you do? Enter the Brown Sugar Saver from JBK Pottery!!

JBK Pottery sent me a Brown Sugar Saver in the moose design for review, and I was excited to try it out. If there's a way to keep my brown sugar from hardening, I want to try it! This is simply a small ceramic piece with a cute design on the front. Soak in water for 15 minutes, dry it off, and tuck into your brown sugar.

This will keep brown sugar soft for up to 3 months!! I don't think brown sugar ever lasts that long around here, but now I don't have to toss out a cup or two of brown sugar every 3 weeks! I actually put it in with some sugar that was already hardening, and it really does soften up after sitting with this ceramic piece. I love that it's reusable too; if your brown sugar begins to harden, simply soak in water, dry off, and put it back in! This is definitely a tool that every baker needs in their kitchen!

JBK Pottery has some other really neat kitchen products. Ceramic cookie stamps, pot minders (keeps water from boiling over), bread warmers...all great products to have in your kitchen!

One of our readers will receive a Brown Sugar Saver
(winner's choice of design)!!

Blurb and Fundraising

Hi Neighbors!

Making a custom book that makes the world better
(sponsored post)

If you are involved with any type of organization – animal rescue, PTA, even little leagues, you are probably focused on raising money. Creating a Blurb custom book to sell (or give away to donors) is a simple, effective way to fundraise.

Here are a few of my favorite book-making tips for charity groups:
  1. If your subject is the tiniest bit photogenic (like animals, the environment, or kids), think about putting together a simple, classic photo book to sell. Just use one of these six professionally designed templatesand you’ll get a stunning book (without having to hire a professional designer).
  2. Think about your narrative—what’s the story you want to tell? Use a mixture of words and images to tell people exactly what you do—and why you do it. With a great story, you’ll find people are much more open to your message. (Here’s a great online book-making tool to get you started)
  3. Another great fundraising idea = create a cute little notebook or planner decorated with your organization’s logo. It is handy and people will actually carry it around—and carry your message with them!
Do you have any of your own tips and tricks about how to raise money for a good cause? I’d love to hear them!

See you soon!

Gazelle: Older iPhone Models

Hey Neighbors!

***This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

Older iPhone models emerge as the perfect gadget for children
Trend shows that parents continue to buy older model iPhones for kids

In the ever-changing – and ever-breaking – era of technology, phones are often the first to be replaced. Cracked screens, water damage and everyday wear and tear contribute to a constant need for new devices. But the average buyer isn’t the only offender; it’s children that need to be watched with their gadgets while learning the responsibility of owning a new electronic. For parents looking to fit their child with a first device, a new iPhone may not be the best choice – and for good reason.

Parents are now turning to certified pre-owned phones for their children’s gadget needs. Last month, Gazelle, the nation’s leading trade-in and buy site for electronics, found that 52% of mobile devices purchased on its online store were for kids or another family member, and 31% of customers were buying as a first device. Twenty-five percent of those who purchased also reported a lost, stolen or broken device as the main reason for replacing their device, making older phone models not only a cost-efficient solution, but also a practical one.

Cost continues to be one of the major reasons for purchasing a new iPhone or Android. And with kids at the helm, a certified pre-owned device is the perfect choice for any cost cognizant parent. At Gazelle, quality is not sacrificed for cost. Gazelle completes a rigorous 30-point inspection on each device, backed with a 30-day risk-free return policy. And for those looking for a newer iPhone model, Gazelle offers iPhones from the 4 all the way up to the new iPhone 6 Plus as well as Samsung Galaxy phones and iPads.

For a limited time, Gazelle has discounted the price of the certified pre-owned iPhone 4S, starting at just $129. Visit today to take a look at our certified pre-owned iPhone inventory.

The Girl's New Bedroom

Hey neighbors!

First we had a back deck built.  Next we enclosed the back deck including large windows.  Now we are taking a portion of the enclosed back deck and turning it into a bedroom for the girls.  They have been wanting a normal bedroom for so long.

Well it should be done this weekend.  Just take a look at the pictures and I will add more as we get it completed.  They are presently searching Pinterest and other websites for decorating ideas!  I think I have heard, "Mom, Look!" about a thousand times!  They are really having fun.  I am hoping to narrow them down a little regarding style/theme, whatever, so it doesn't get too out of hand.

If you know of any great resources for room decor or DIY decorating feel free to share in the comments.  See you soon!
