EatSmart Precision Pro Thermometer #GiftIdea #HolidayGiftGuide

Here's a great gift or even stocking stuffer idea for the chef in your life this holiday season! EatSmart sent us the Precision Pro Instant Read Food Thermometer for our holiday gift guide, and it is amazing!

We decided to try out our new thermometer while making our Thanksgiving dinner. It has never been so easy to make sure the turkey is cooked through! I had it in the oven for about 4-1/2 hours when we first used the thermometer. Sure enough, it gave us the internal temp of the bird within a second, and let us know it was indeed done. I love the LCD screen; it is so easy to read, and even has a backlight (simply push the power button quickly) so you don't need to struggle and squint to see what it says. You can also set your thermometer to read in either Fahrenheit or Celsius, whichever you prefer.

The thermometer also came in handy with our ham. A friend had brought over some pre-cooked hams that just needed heated, and after about an hour, the outside looked nice and hot, ready to eat. Just to check I used my handy Precision Pro Thermometer, and discovered that the inside of the ham was only 32 degrees! Yep, back in the oven the ham went! I'm just glad I was able to check, instead of serving some freezing cold ham with our Thanksgiving dinner!

So, if there's a chef on your shopping list this holiday season, be sure to check out EatSmart's Precision Pro Thermometer-it's sure to please!!  You can purchase the EatSmart Thermometer on Amazon.

Are Big Dogs A Bigger Responsibility?

Image Source Dogs come in all shapes and sizes. When opting to own a bigger breed, there are clearly going to be some differences in owning a Chihuahua. However, how big are these differences? Is the responsibility far greater with a humungous hound? Or are there some bonuses to having a big bow-wow-ing beast? Diet Big dogs do require a different diet then small dogs, not just in terms of portion size but nutrients too. They often need a greater amount of protein, especially as a pup when they are growing. This higher protein food costs more, and given that you’ll be serving up higher portions, you’ll go through a lot more dog food with a big breed than you would with a small breed. There are also other factors to consider. Big dogs are often more likely to contract allergies to certain foods. This can sometimes mean buying hypoallergenic dog food , which is unsurprisingly more expensive. It’s also recommended using a raised dog bowl once a big dog reaches adulthood.
