Back to School with TerraCycle!

Hello Neighbors!

How is everyone doing this morning?  We are doing great!  Today I want to share a couple of back to school products I received from...
TERRACYCLE!

TerraCycle takes candy wrappers, capri sun drink pouches, etc. and make new products!  When our package arrived, and we opened it, everyone was oohing and ahhing over it!  We received a Capri Sun (one of M's favorites!) backpack, an Upcycled Mail Sack iPad Case, and a Starburst Insulated Cooler!
This is our Capri Sun Backpack!
Doesn't that look neat?!?  M. has officially claimed this.  :)  She has been using it to take her necessary items to the gym for TaeKwonDo classes.  It fits everything she needs (a change of clothes, a bottle of water/sports drink, etc.) and looks great!    Yesterday she brought it when we took a day trip for my brother's birthday (sh) to bring some books and a change of clothes.  This backpack has adjustable straps, and an outside zippered pocket (great for pens, pencils, etc.).

Here is a little information about TerraCycle ... "TerraCycle is on a mission to eliminate the idea of waste. We do this by creating waste collection programs (each one is called a “Brigade”) for previously non-recyclable, or difficult-to-recycle, waste. The collected waste is then converted into new products, ranging from recycled park benches to upcycled backpacks. Select Your Waste  To get started, simply sign up and join a Brigade program for which you want to collect. There are currently more than 40 Brigade programs that range from food packaging (like drink pouches and candy wrappers) to office supplies (like pens and tape dispensers) to personal products (like cosmetic, beauty and diaper packaging). You can join as many Brigade programs as you like. Collect and Send  Once you have joined a TerraCycle Brigade program, download our “Collect, Store, and Ship Guide” for helpful suggestions on how to become a successful waste collection station. When your waste is ready to be sent in, you can download a shipping label from your TerraCycle account. Once your waste is received and checked in to the TerraCycle facility, your collection location will be credited with any TerraCycle points that you may have earned for your waste. TerraCycle points can be redeemed for a variety of charitable gifts, or for a payment of $0.01 per point to the non-profit organization or school of your choice. Solve and Benefit  TerraCycle’s team of scientists and designers have found ways to recycle and upcycle the waste we collect into cool new products. When we upcycle a piece of waste we leverage both the material it is made from and the original shape of the waste. When we recycle we transform the collected waste into new products through a variety of processes like injection molding. Best of all, when you're done with a TerraCycle product you can put it back in the original Brigade collection program and get credit for the waste a second time."

Next is the Starburst Insulated Cooler... perfect for bringing your lunch to school, work, picnic, etc.  I have a feeling my brother may end up with this.  He really likes Starbursts!  He can use it when he wants to take a lunch to work!

Your child will always be able to tell which lunch bag is theirs... just look for the Starbursts!  This is a very nice size for a lunch bag/cooler.  Just big enough to fit a sandwich, drink, etc., but not so big it is bulky and hard for your little one to take to school!

Don't you think your child would enjoy taking one of these to school and showing it off to all of their friends? I do!  Or what about getting one for yourself to take your lunch to work (In your favorite candy of course)?

Last is the Upcycled Mail Sack iPad Case.  Because this is made from canvas mail sacks "neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of night shall prevent you from toting your favorite e-reader along wherever your travels take you...".

Doesn't that look really neat!  M. may try stealing this to use in some of her plays (as a mailbag!).  There is also a nice little pocket on the outside of one, to use for chargers cords, usb cords, flash drives, etc.

There is ultrasuede on the inside of the case to keep your iPad safe from scratches.  A really nice feature!  How many times do you get a really neat bag, but the inside scratches your iPod/iPad/etc.?  Not with this Upcycled Mail Sack iPad Case from TerraCycle!  I have a large sling purse and when I carry my iPad with me this will fit perfectly, without being too bulky.

So, make sure you head on over to the TerraCycle website and you can either start shopping, or join a Brigade program and start collecting things to send in!  You can also Like them on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter to stay up to date with their latest news, brigades, and products!  TerraCycle products are just so unique!

I received no monetary compensation for this review.  I did receive products for review purposes only.  Information taken from the website is in red.

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back. Baby First TV 'I Can Sign" First Words

Hey Neighbors! Here is a really neat gift idea for someone with a young child.  Here we have I Can Sign (First Words) from Baby First  TV.  Now, I am just going to share right here that we have friends who have taught two of their children to sign at a very young age.  And it works!  Their children could sign before they could talk. The Dvd will teach your child many useful words that will be used in day to day life.  Words like: eat, water, milk, cookie, ear, feet hands, kiss, sleep, book, mother, father, and many other words.  Each word is taught in a short video clip where they will see pictures of the word/item and people signing.  There is also a little character at the bottom corner of the video signing along.  The Dvd can be done on English or Spanish.  Also included on the Dvd are printable coloring pages that you can print off by inserting the Dvd into your computer.  Inside the cover of the Dvd case is a little booklet that covers some of the words you and your child
