Hey Neighbors!

Here is a fun review from the TOS Crew. We received the book: 65 More Short Mysteries You Solve with Science! You can find the book at Science Naturally. Now, I suppose you could plan to do one or two a day, one to three times a week, but I think this is perfect for trips. Quick trips or long trips, trying to solve these one minute mysteries will make the time go faster. Each mystery has a twist that you have to solve using your knowledge of science. Some are easy, some are not. The book is designed for children 8-12.

The mysteries were created by a father-daughter team, Eric and Natalie Yoder. This is the third book in their series, so if you like it, you might want to check into purchasing their other books.

The book is broken down into chapters, with titles like:Life Science, Earth and Space Science, Five More Minutes of Mysteries, plus more. There is a bonus section with five one minute math mysteries.

My family really enjoys having books like these on long trips. We pull them out and work on them until everyone gets tired and then we put them away for later. It is really fun trying to solve them together. We often take turns reading the mystery so everyone is involved in solving at least one. Also GREAT for relieving boredom when in a hotel room or waiting at a restaurant.

Baby First TV 'I Can Sign" First Words

Hey Neighbors! Here is a really neat gift idea for someone with a young child. Here we have I Can Sign (First Words) from Baby First TV. Now, I am just going to share right here that we have friends who have taught two of their children to sign at a very young age. And it works! Their children could sign before they could talk. The Dvd will teach your child many useful words that will be used in day to day life. Words like: eat, water, milk, cookie, ear, feet hands, kiss, sleep, book, mother, father, and many other words. Each word is taught in a short video clip where they will see pictures of the word/item and people signing. There is also a little character at the bottom corner of the video signing along. The Dvd can be done on English or Spanish. Also included on the Dvd are printable coloring pages that you can print off by inserting the Dvd into your computer. Hey neighbors, its with a heavy heart I let you all know that my mom (Lori) unexpectedly passed away the end of June. Our family has been taking the time between now and then to be together and remember what a light mom was.
