HABA Orchard Mini Game

Hi Neighbors!

Here is another GREAT game from HABA to take on the road with you! This is the HABA Mini-Orchard Game. It conveniently comes in a storage tin to carry the game wherever you may go. I found this perfect for hotel rooms, dining out and when visiting friends. This is one of the cooperative games, where all the players are working together to defeat the raven. I really like these kind of games as they teach children to work as a team.

The tin holds all the pieces for the game.
This includes:
1 Game Board that is in four parts that connects together like a puzzle.
10 Apples
10 Pears
10 pairs of Cherries
10 Plums
1 Raven Jigsaw (9 pieces)
1 color die w/symbols
1 set of game instructions
(Keep the fruit pieces away from small children as they are tiny and could easily be swallowed.)

The goal in this game is for the children to pick the fruit from the trees before the raven can steal them.

Assemble the game board on a table or flat surface. Place the fruit in the proper trees. Pile the nine pieces of the raven jigsaw beside the board game. Decide who will go first. The first player rolls the die. The die has red, yellow, green, and blue. If it lands on a color you choose 1 pice of fruit from that tree. If the basket is up, the player may choose any two pieces of fruit from the trees. Watch out for the raven! If the raven appears you place one piece of the puzzle in the center of the game board where it belongs. Should the children pick all the fruit before the raven puzzle is completed they win! If they put the raven puzzle together before all the fruit is collected they lose and the raven wins.

HABA has several games that are perfect for travel. We already reviewed one earlier in this trip. Be sure to go back and read the review on Hit the Throttle, another fun travel game.

About HABA: "We are a wood manufacturing company known for our high-quality baby and children's toys, as well as our children's games and block sets. We view ourselves as a "single source supplier" for children. We are expanding our product portfolio beyond wood products using the same high quality standards for which we are known. Thus, HABA also offers plush toys, games and textiles, for example. Our play "inventors" and designers put great care and thought into the creation of our products.  Parents themselves, they are sensitive to the needs of our children.  Their ideas are transformed by the use of materials which undergo continuous controls and careful inspection. Naturally, our toys comply and often exceed safety standards!  HABA products may be found in well-stocked toy stores around the globe."

Neighbors I have been really impressed by the quality of games produced by HABA. Be sure and follow them on Twitter and then go and LIKE their Facebook page. I believe you will be very happy with any one of their products. One neighbor will receive a HABA Mini Orchard Game.

Are Big Dogs A Bigger Responsibility?

Image Source Dogs come in all shapes and sizes. When opting to own a bigger breed, there are clearly going to be some differences in owning a Chihuahua. However, how big are these differences? Is the responsibility far greater with a humungous hound? Or are there some bonuses to having a big bow-wow-ing beast? Diet Big dogs do require a different diet then small dogs, not just in terms of portion size but nutrients too. They often need a greater amount of protein, especially as a pup when they are growing. This higher protein food costs more, and given that you’ll be serving up higher portions, you’ll go through a lot more dog food with a big breed than you would with a small breed. There are also other factors to consider. Big dogs are often more likely to contract allergies to certain foods. This can sometimes mean buying hypoallergenic dog food , which is unsurprisingly more expensive. It’s also recommended using a raised dog bowl once a big dog reaches adulthood.
