OK, maybe I am naive, but I did not realize that there were places like TicketKick where they assist you in fighting a speeding ticket. I do understand that sometimes you are ticketed wrongly and need assistance. I personally do not drive, but I have spent close to 10 years on the road traveling with our family. I had my restricted in my teen years, and never went to get my regular driver's license. During that time I was never even stopped.
My husband has been driving for over 30 years and has never had a speeding ticket, but the children LOVE to share about when he almost received a ticket for going about five miles under the speed limit. We were on our way to visit a church on a Sunday morning on a four lane road. We knew we had to turn left in about a block, so my husband changed lanes and prepared to turn. The turn was a little further up then we thought, but just before he was supposed to turn, we had lights appear behind us. Sure enough he was being pulled over! All of us were buckled in, so we knew that was not the problem and we knew he had not been speeding. Imagine our surprise when she told us that he was going too slow in the fast lane. Now mind you there was almost no traffic and he was not even five miles under the speed limit, it was more like three. My children all watched wide eyed as she explained that in the fast lane you are expected to go over the speed limit. Wow! Speed Limit. Doesn't that mean that is the fastest you are supposed to go? Anyway, he explained that we were turning soon and that is why he was in that lane. She proceeded to give him a verbal warning, making sure to let us know that she could give him a ticket, and then let us go. We were soon on our way to church again.
Needless to say we made it to church on time and without any other delays. My children still enjoy sharing this story even though it happened several years ago. They really think it is funny.
Have any of my neighbors ever received a speeding ticket? Do you have a funny story you would like to share? Please feel free to leave a comment and share your story with us.
