Plumbing Problems

Hi Neighbors!

We have had our share of problems with our plumbing this year.  First the girl's bathroom had a major blockage somewhere in the pipes.  By the end of a shower, you were calf deep in clogged water.  Of course it was further in then our snake would reach.  We ended up having to go to the basement and cut into the pipe and then reseal it after removing all the buildup and hair. Disgusting!  We have those little screens on our drains, but sometimes people don't put them back after removing the stopper when bathing! For awhile our sink and tub were bubbling at each other.

After that ended we had a leak underneath out kitchen sink.  Off to shop for more Plumbing Tools and Equipment.  We ended up having to replace the whole faucet, sprayer and the pipes.  One whole day spent on repairs.  And if that wasn't enough, the boy's shower started leaking.  Water was dripping from the shower head and wouldn't stop.  When we thought we had it repaired one of the boys hopped in for a shower and a handle blew off.  Amazing! After repairing the handle, the shower appears to be working fine.

Now it is the dishwasher that stopped working.  It just won't run, unless you hold the door shut tight.  We think we need the locking mechanism replaced.  Of course the warranty ran out last month.  I think they plan things like that!  So, we are supposed to fix that this week. Hopefully it will be a quick easy repair.  I am really hoping we don't have any more plumbing type problems for awhile.

Are Big Dogs A Bigger Responsibility?

Image Source Dogs come in all shapes and sizes. When opting to own a bigger breed, there are clearly going to be some differences in owning a Chihuahua. However, how big are these differences? Is the responsibility far greater with a humungous hound? Or are there some bonuses to having a big bow-wow-ing beast? Diet Big dogs do require a different diet then small dogs, not just in terms of portion size but nutrients too. They often need a greater amount of protein, especially as a pup when they are growing. This higher protein food costs more, and given that you’ll be serving up higher portions, you’ll go through a lot more dog food with a big breed than you would with a small breed. There are also other factors to consider. Big dogs are often more likely to contract allergies to certain foods. This can sometimes mean buying hypoallergenic dog food , which is unsurprisingly more expensive. It’s also recommended using a raised dog bowl once a big dog reaches adulthood.
