Hey Neighbors!
Have you heard about the Yahoo! Shine Women Who Shine program? You can visit their site and nominate a woman you feel is a shining example to you. Whether she is someone who has started a business, participates in community service, or has just done something that inspires you to try harder. Maybe this woman has been an example in your life, or even helped change your life in some way. She could be someone you have never personally met, like someone you know online, or she could be a close friend or relative. Is there a woman you look up to that you would like to nominate for the Yahoo! Shine Women Who Shine program? You might want to nominate your mom! The winner will receive $10,000. Be sure to visit the site and vote, or even nominate someone yourself. (bitly.com/women-who-shine)
I nominated Toni-Lynn Barber. She is a single mom with two sons and she has a successful website going. Toni-Lynn is a stay at home mom! She has been featured on several local sites for her couponing skills and her participation in community outreach through helping with virtual food drives. She actually has four sites up and running. Delightful Chaos is where she does product reviews and giveaways. then there is A Few Fries Short, a recipe site where she shares recipes with others. Grocery Price Books was designed to help shoppers look up prices before shopping. And last but not least is her Mak Media. The initials are her father's who was diagnosed with cancer and who passed away in June of 2008. She started the company in his memory. Visit Toni-Lynn's sites to learn a little more about her.
Take time to nominate someone you know. The voting will be open until October 29th and the winner will be announced November 12th. There are runner-up prizes as well as the Grand Prize of $10,000. There are 8 different categories to choose from; Activist, Athlete, Entrepreneur, Healers, Mothers, Public Service, Survivors and Teachers. Even if you don't have someone to nominate take a moment and vote for one or more of the ladies who have already been nominated. I am sure you will find at least one that will spark your interest.
Now, how about you? Do you have someone to nominate? If you do nominate someone please leave a comment here to tell us about it. Perhaps we can go vote for your nominee!
