Time 4 Writing!

Hi Neighbors!

I recently was able to review Time 4 Writing.  My daughter took their online Middle School Mechanics.  She helps on the blog and we figured this would help to improve her writing skills.  (Sometimes I think I need to re-take a course!)  Anyway, I have to say I really enjoyed her using this system.  She is assigned a teacher, who grades all her assignments.  If she has questions, she has access to her teacher through email.  Each day all she does is sign in, complete her assignment for the day, submit it and then wait for it to be graded.  The teacher usually has it graded by that evening!  Super!

The teachers she has had have all been great about grading and leaving her feedback when she has needed it.  She did have to change teachers about a week or so ago as her original teacher is on maternity leave.  It was a very smooth transfer though and we didn't see any major differences between the teachers.

Now, let me tell you a little about Time4Writing.  These are one on one writing courses taught by certified teachers.  They offer 8 week writing courses for elementary through high school.  The eight week course is $99.  They also have some free writing resources available on their site.  Your child can greatly benefit from using Time4Writing.

I believe it really helped improve my daughter's writing and given her more confidence in her abilities. She is almost finished with her 8 week course and she has done great.  I think she actually enjoys being in charge of her course this way, being able to choose when she works on the course and how fast she wants to go.  She logs in, completes her assignments and turns them in.  There are quizzes she is to take.  Her teacher grades assignments and quizzes and turns them back in with comments and or explanations.  She is able to go back and correct her errors.  Also as I stated earlier, she can email her teacher at any time with any questions she has.  Their response has always been quick and easy to understand.

About Time4Writing Middle School courses:
The middle school writing courses start at the beginner level with a basic writing mechanics course, which focuses on writing fundamentals such as sentences vs. fragments, subjects and predicates, subject-verb agreement and capitalization. Intermediate courses include writing enhancements, paragraph writing and a middle school essay writing course that is designed to strengthen the student's ability to write a well-structured essay. The advanced middle school writing course teaches students to find their voice and create essays that match style and media. Online writing tutoring by certified teachers ensures middle school students are as proficient constructing a solid paragraph as they are crafting a well-balanced essay.

This sounds like a great program. I'm definitely going to check it out for my daughter, who is entering middle school this year.

How does home schooling prepare the teen for college and/or advanced professional degrees?

Does home schooling provide adequate science lab experiences? (biology, chemistry, physics)

Are parents able to teach higher mathematics like trigonometry, pre-calculus? Computer science? These are required if your daughter or son hopes to attend college and enter medical school.

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back. 10 Things You Need To Do Before Moving Abroad

From There is nothing more fulfilling than travelling the world and visiting new and exciting places. If you’re a fan of travel , then you might have thought about moving abroad at some point. If you’re moving abroad soon, or think that it’s something that you’d like to do in the future, then here are ten things that you need to do before you start your new life. 1. Visit The Country Plenty of people move abroad without visiting the country first. Although this is fine to do, as long as you’ve done plenty of research on the country, it makes much more sense to visit the country first. This way you can get used to the culture, and will know in advance whether or not the country is somewhere that you’d actually like to live. 2. Research The Country You need to do lots of research before you move abroad, especially if you haven’t visited the count
