Hello neighbors!
As some of you may know, I am very interested in photography, scrapbooking (a new interest) and of course photo books. So when I was given the opportunity to work with Nero Kwik Media, I was really excited! We take so many photos in our family, and my husband recently decided that the photo books are one of the best ways to creatively show-off our pictures. Nero Kwik Media is a free application where you are able to organize, edit, and share your photos, music, and videos.
We have a shelf with 6-10 photo books we have already created and I want to keep adding more. It is funny because all it takes is for one person to start looking through them, and next thing you know someone else starts, and it just keeps going. It is a great way to remember holidays, family events, camping, travel, births, etc. The Nero Kwik Media photo book I decided to do is for my husband. I included a bunch of fun pictures of the family! Photo books make great gifts too!
Anyway, back to the review. I downloaded my Nero Kwik Media, very easy to do, and did not take a long time. Once finished I went on to start my photo book. So simple, just click on the button on my desktop, and then choose photo book. I can then choose from a theme, or design my own. I chose to design my own, because I like to play around with the background, layout, etc. Then you can begin uploading pictures. The nice thing is, Nero Kwik Media already pulls together all the pictures, music, etc. from your computer. You just select the photos you want to include and click the add button. This will add them to a tray at the bottom of your design screen, where you can then add them to the photo book. So far, so good!
So on to the next step. You can use templates, that give you a pre-set layout for your pictures, but I like to do more hands-on in my photo book. So I added my background first. I think they have some great background choices, just not enough. My children are a little older, and although they had many for little children, there were not as many choices for older children. I found myself searching near the end of the book for more options. I hope Nero will be adding more!
Anyway, after adding the backgrounds, I started to arrange my pictures. You can basically drag and drop. After the picture is where you want it, you can then, rotate, re-size, crop, or edit your picture. A very easy to use program. You can also set one of your own pictures for the background. After your pictures are in place on your page you can add borders. I liked these! There are some really unique ones, but just like the background choices, I would like to see more.
Next I added my text. Pretty easy to accomplish. Drag the text box to your chosen spot on the page and drop. You can then change text font, size, color, and location. Another place where more choices would be nice is the font selection. I was able to place text wherever it was needed. And the ability to change the size was a great benefit. My husband was working on a photo book the other day with another program, and there you can not change font size, nor can you move it around.
Last but not least, I went in and added clip art. Same thing, more choices would be nice. I did enjoy playing with the clip art. This was alot of fun. I added a few butterflies, flowers, and some hearts. I think it turned out pretty nice overall!
Would I recommend the Nero Kwik Media? Definitely! It was very easy to work with, my 11 year old is on creating one right now, and she is not having any problems. Now, I am just waiting for my book to arrive. We had to leave town today to go to Chicago, and won't be back until the 28th. I was really hoping it would be in before we left. A friend who checks our mail is coming up here Tuesday, so maybe it will be in and he will be able to bring it. If not, I will give you an update when I get home.

Nice feminine background! |

I added the little bird on her shoulder! She loved it! |
I received my book! Because we are in Chicago, I had to wait for a neighbor to bring the photo book to me, because we had to leave before it came in! I dedicated it to my husband, and put in loads of family pictures! I received a leather covered photo book. Very well made. The binding looks great too. I have seen a couple of books, where the binding looks like it might come loose.

Another nice background choice. |

This was from a play my 12 year old designed. |
On to my description of the book! The front has an opening to see the picture inside on the first page, or you could place the title here. My husband was very surprised! I think it looks great too!

The popcorn and cookies are clip art that were added. |
 |
Added a baseball to the racquetball picture. It really looks funny! |
Overall I am very satisfied with the Nero Kwik Media program. I have already been playing around on it some more. I do hope Nero will add some more choices to their background and clip art features though. This is a program I can recommend to my neighbors At the Fence! And yes, I would order a photo book here again!
