Keepers of the Faith Review and $25 GC Giveaway

Gift Guide Post  #4

Hello Ladies!

I just have to tell you before I start this review, that this is seriously one of my all time favorite websites to order books from.  About 14 years ago I discovered a Christian writer from the late 1800's early 1900's.  She was a pastor's wife, and used incidences that she had experienced and seen as a basis for her stories.  She wrote for the young as well as older child, and her adult books were GREAT!  Needless to say, I started finding her books on Ebay and began bidding on them.  There was one person I was often in fierce competition with.  I found out that her family was a part of Keepers of the Faith, and I have been hooked since.  This company is so very careful about the books they choose to re-print.  And I have to say, I have yet to find new books for children that can compete or even come close to the quality of Keepers of the Faith!  I do have to mention the author I was discussing above is Isabella Alden, who wrote under the pen name of Pansy.

Keepers of the Faith is a family business that is multi-generational.  They have been busy helping families for over 30 years!  They began a Contenders for the Faith and a Keepers at Home club originally for their own children.  This club is along the lines of scouting type clubs.  It is Christian based, and the way the program is set up, it can be used by a church, a youth group, homeschooling group, or even a homeschooling family.  It teaches Biblical and practical skills your child can use throughout their lifetime.

Not only does Keepers of the Faith have the Contenders and Keepers clubs, but they also reprint old Christian books.  They have very strict guidelines on what they will publish.  They also have curriculum, crafts, toys and games, and occasionally they have contests and prizes on their site.  One of my daughters entered their summer writing contest and came in second for her age group.  I would love for each of my readers to go to this page that describes how they choose books to print.  The high standards are why I can recommend their books to everyone.  Over the years as parents have asked my opinion on where they can get good, quality Christian books, I have pointed them to Keepers of the Faith.  Be sure to bookmark their page, because if you are as impressed as I was you will keep going back again and again.

Are you looking for a good spiritual gift that will encourage your children in the Lord?  Make sure you visit Keepers of the Faith.  When you search for books, you can search by age group, or by author.  Remember they carry books by Pansy and these are super.  They also have books on missionaries and preachers.  I forgot to mention that they do carry some CDs and DVDs.

We also have the Pilgrim's Progress on CD that they offer and my children have listened to it over and over again.  My husband uses the Martyr's Mirror book ($44.95) often for devotions.  This is not a book for the weak.  It is also a very large book that will require plenty of time for reading!  I have never been disappointed in Keepers of the Faith!

Now, Keeper's is offering the winner of this giveaway a $25 GC.  What a great way to purchase some quality gifts!  If you are looking for recommendations for a certain age, let me know and I will help.

Baby First TV 'I Can Sign" First Words

Hey Neighbors! Here is a really neat gift idea for someone with a young child.  Here we have I Can Sign (First Words) from Baby First  TV.  Now, I am just going to share right here that we have friends who have taught two of their children to sign at a very young age.  And it works!  Their children could sign before they could talk. The Dvd will teach your child many useful words that will be used in day to day life.  Words like: eat, water, milk, cookie, ear, feet hands, kiss, sleep, book, mother, father, and many other words.  Each word is taught in a short video clip where they will see pictures of the word/item and people signing.  There is also a little character at the bottom corner of the video signing along.  The Dvd can be done on English or Spanish.  Also included on the Dvd are printable coloring pages that you can print off by inserting the Dvd into your computer.  Inside the cover of the Dvd case is a little booklet that covers some of the words you and your child

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back.  Hey neighbors, its with a heavy heart I let you all know that my mom (Lori) unexpectedly passed away the end of June. Our family has been taking the time between now and then to be together and remember what a light mom was. I came on towards the end of last year and was planning on fully moving my interviews and review to this website. I intend to to so partially to keep mommas beautiful website going. Thank you all so much for your love and support over the years. ~Mercy
