Weighted Walking Vest from Empower Fitness Review and Giveaway

Hi Neighbors!

Glad to see you out At the Fence today! We are visiting Chicago again and it is chilly, damp, and windy out. Empower Fitness sent me this great item to Get Out and Get Active. It is a Weighted Walking Vest. You can adjust the weight from 4-8 lbs. It is really quite comfortable to wear whether you are walking, jogging, or just working around the house. I am starting to walk and my 24 year old daughter walks every morning. She has also enjoyed using my new vest. To begin with, although not very important, I like the color! The weighted vest is not so large as to be an inconvenience. It was designed with simplicity. There is a built in weight of 4 lbs. and then there are an additional 4 lbs. that you can add as desired. There are pockets that velcro shut to hold the extra weights.

This is the back view. There is a reflective strip for safety purposes.

Here is the view from the front. There are 4 small reflective strips. The vest has a belt that clips in the front to hold the vest in place, although my daughter prefers not to use this and the vest still stays in place.

The weights (1 lb. each), can be placed in the pockets as needed. There are two in the center of the back, and one on each side in the front.

Just the added weight will help you to become more physically fit. The vest helps you to burn more calories in less time.

Are you thinking about starting an exercise program? Then one of these vests would be great for you. Put it on and start walking! Adjust the weight to suit your needs. Want a light day? Remove the weights. Want a little more of a workout, stick the extra weights in. The vest is designed to fit sizes 2-16, but I will tell you that I am larger than that and wear it with the belt unhooked. There is no exercise easier than walking. Pick a good time of day for you to start and stick with it. Have an mp3 player with some music, map out a route and then stick to it. I have heard it said, if you can continue something for 30 days it will become a habit. So don't give up! You can order the vest through the website for $39.99 plus tax and shipping. Or you could enter to try to win one.

Baby First TV 'I Can Sign" First Words

Hey Neighbors! Here is a really neat gift idea for someone with a young child.  Here we have I Can Sign (First Words) from Baby First  TV.  Now, I am just going to share right here that we have friends who have taught two of their children to sign at a very young age.  And it works!  Their children could sign before they could talk. The Dvd will teach your child many useful words that will be used in day to day life.  Words like: eat, water, milk, cookie, ear, feet hands, kiss, sleep, book, mother, father, and many other words.  Each word is taught in a short video clip where they will see pictures of the word/item and people signing.  There is also a little character at the bottom corner of the video signing along.  The Dvd can be done on English or Spanish.  Also included on the Dvd are printable coloring pages that you can print off by inserting the Dvd into your computer.  Inside the cover of the Dvd case is a little booklet that covers some of the words you and your child

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back.  Hey neighbors, its with a heavy heart I let you all know that my mom (Lori) unexpectedly passed away the end of June. Our family has been taking the time between now and then to be together and remember what a light mom was. I came on towards the end of last year and was planning on fully moving my interviews and review to this website. I intend to to so partially to keep mommas beautiful website going. Thank you all so much for your love and support over the years. ~Mercy
