My Memories of Coke

Hi Neighbors!

Social Moms and Coca-Cola are giving me a chance to win a $25 Target Giftcard by sharing a favorite memory of Coca-Cola. Now I have to tell you, this is something I can write about. My husband LOVES Coca-Cola. My husband preaches and I could not tell you how many times he has mentioned Coca-Cola in a sermon. He always jokes that if you really love the Lord, you drink Coke and that the other companies are just watered down Coke. Fortunately everyone knows he is joking....I think.

We were at a church for a revival meeting one year, and by the end of the week we had so many cans and bottles of Coke, I think I could have started a small store. One couple brought 2 twenty four packs. Another family brought a few 2 liters of Coke. He made the mistake of mentioning cheesecake that week also and we ended up with three cheesecakes. Talk about sweet overload! We had Coke to take with us when we left!

The children know when Dad asks for a drink, he wants Coke. They have purchased him several Coca-Cola glasses, along with a Coke t-shirt or two as gifts. And of course they tease him when we are at a hotel and he asks for a Coke from the machine. They will carry back a different drink and tell him that the hotel machine was out of Coke. He never knows when to believe them now! They still get him on this one. He will even drive out to get a Coke if the machine is empty.

We even have friends who prefer other drinks, but when we visit they get him a 2-liter Coke of his own. You would think with some of the discussions we have had on which beverage is better that a war has broken out. There is teasing all through out the meal.

And of course, we don't have root beer floats, we have Coke floats. They are great! Vanilla ice cream floating in ice cold Coca-Cola. We grab two half gallons of ice cream, a couple 2 liter Cokes, our favorite games and there you have one of our favorite game night treats.

So, of course our family will always have smiles break out when someone mentions Coke. That's dad's favorite drink.

I wrote this blog post while participating in the SocialMoms and Coca-Cola® blogging program. If I am one of the first 100 blogs received by SocialsMoms, I will receive a $25 gift card. For more information on the program, click here.

Coca-Cola used to be my favorite drink when I was young--always hated Pepsi. When the flavor was changed to "compete" more with Pepsi, it lost all of its appeal to me. Now, knowing what I know about High Fructose Corn Syrup, I never have sodas anymore. Even with some that come with pure cane sugar or the "throwbacks" I don't drink them and I think I am much better off.

I remember back when I was a little girl it was a real treat to get a coke. We didn't have soda on hand very often so it was very special to get some and I love it! Still do! Thanks for sharing about your husband's enjoyment of coke!

my dh loves Pepsi as much as yours does Coke; he gets teased about all the Pepsi bottle around our house.

I remember the Coke and Orange floats we used to have.
Hope you get the $25 GC

Baby First TV 'I Can Sign" First Words

Hey Neighbors! Here is a really neat gift idea for someone with a young child.  Here we have I Can Sign (First Words) from Baby First  TV.  Now, I am just going to share right here that we have friends who have taught two of their children to sign at a very young age.  And it works!  Their children could sign before they could talk. The Dvd will teach your child many useful words that will be used in day to day life.  Words like: eat, water, milk, cookie, ear, feet hands, kiss, sleep, book, mother, father, and many other words.  Each word is taught in a short video clip where they will see pictures of the word/item and people signing.  There is also a little character at the bottom corner of the video signing along.  The Dvd can be done on English or Spanish.  Also included on the Dvd are printable coloring pages that you can print off by inserting the Dvd into your computer.  Inside the cover of the Dvd case is a little booklet that covers some of the words you and your child

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back.  Hey neighbors, its with a heavy heart I let you all know that my mom (Lori) unexpectedly passed away the end of June. Our family has been taking the time between now and then to be together and remember what a light mom was. I came on towards the end of last year and was planning on fully moving my interviews and review to this website. I intend to to so partially to keep mommas beautiful website going. Thank you all so much for your love and support over the years. ~Mercy
