Milson Road Review and Giveaway!

Hey Neighbors!

Here is a really neat product!  It is from Milson Road and is called The Daily Portrait.  Milson Road takes a special occasion and creates a wonderful commemorative framed print.  They can do birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, babies births, whatever your special occasion might be!  I had one done for our 28th anniversary.  They took the year we were married and found some news from that year and then they gathered news from the date of our anniversary.  At the bottom of the portrait is an engraved plate of the special date.  The left side of the picture is when we were married and the right is from the anniversary.  You also get to pick the frame, background colors (mat) and your font style.  This is a $165 value.

Here is an example from their site.

I am really impressed with the finished product.  I will tell you that you will only be seeing the proof of my portrait because even though Milson Road carefully packages everything, and believe me, it was wrapped in tons of bubble wrap, the glass in my portrait was damaged in shipping.  Milson Road has very graciously told me they are ready to ship a replacement.  I was going to wait, but I really wanted to get this post up in case someone wanted it as a gift.

Do be careful when you review your portrait.  I unfortunately was not and my portrait is off one year on both the wedding and anniversary date, but that was not Milson Roads fault.  I failed to catch it in the proof.  So do take care when you check it.

About Milson Road:

"Milson Road. This has long been a sentimental favorite for us, so we felt it was the perfect name for our family-owned and operated business. As our home-away-from-home during a time living in Australia, Milson Road represents memories of adventures, celebrations and special holidays spent with family and friends from near and far. Each spring, a large Jacaranda tree bloomed in a wild burst of lavender over Milson Road. This beautiful, annual event was always worth celebrating — and documenting — so we thought it only fitting to use its signature lavender shade and iconic branches to help tell our Milson Road story. Those wonderful years back on Milson Road inspired us to share our founding signature product, The Daily PortraitTM, with others. Mark originally developed handmade versions of The Daily Portrait as special gifts for nieces and nephews. After the birth of our first child, we were finally able to hang our own version of The Daily Portrait in our home on Milson Road. Friends and family members began requesting their own versions of The Daily Portrait to commemorate important milestones in their lives and to give as gifts on special occasions. When we came back to the U.S., The Daily Portrait came with us, and so did the passion to someday create our company, Milson Road.We are proud to share The Daily Portrait with you and your family. With this one-of-a-kind gift you can capture the events of an extraordinary day, and consider that day saved — forever. We hope you enjoy your visit to Milson Road, and find a sentimental favorite while you’re here. Thanks for stopping by."

The portrait itself is simply beautiful and I highly recommend Milson Road.  It does take 3-4 weeks for your portrait to arrive, so make sure you take that into account when you order. Check their FAQ page if you have any questions before ordering.

What I like the most is how it tells the history of the date you choose. That is so cool, especially if you choose someone older, that would have events way before I was ever born!

One thing I liked about the Daily Portrait was the content... for example, what things cost xx amount of years ago in comparison to today etc... when doing anniversary portraits, what happened at the time your child was born, what the favorite songs were, etc... such a very special keepsake, that is why I love their daily portraits.

Baby First TV 'I Can Sign" First Words

Hey Neighbors! Here is a really neat gift idea for someone with a young child.  Here we have I Can Sign (First Words) from Baby First  TV.  Now, I am just going to share right here that we have friends who have taught two of their children to sign at a very young age.  And it works!  Their children could sign before they could talk. The Dvd will teach your child many useful words that will be used in day to day life.  Words like: eat, water, milk, cookie, ear, feet hands, kiss, sleep, book, mother, father, and many other words.  Each word is taught in a short video clip where they will see pictures of the word/item and people signing.  There is also a little character at the bottom corner of the video signing along.  The Dvd can be done on English or Spanish.  Also included on the Dvd are printable coloring pages that you can print off by inserting the Dvd into your computer.  Inside the cover of the Dvd case is a little booklet that covers some of the words you and your child

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back.  Hey neighbors, its with a heavy heart I let you all know that my mom (Lori) unexpectedly passed away the end of June. Our family has been taking the time between now and then to be together and remember what a light mom was. I came on towards the end of last year and was planning on fully moving my interviews and review to this website. I intend to to so partially to keep mommas beautiful website going. Thank you all so much for your love and support over the years. ~Mercy
