Lawry's Marinades "Get Grilling Kit" Review and Giveaway

CLOSED
Hey Neighbors,

Still pretty pleasant out At the Fence today. Blogspark and Lawry's are working together and have sent me a really nice set to try the new Lawry's Marinades. I have to tell you first, I did not use my grill with the marinades, but wait till you see the finished product. My daughter had some pre-cooked chicken strips, so we marinated those in the new Lawry's Marinades that I received. One is Tuscan SunDried Tomato and the other Szechuan Sweet and Sour BBQ. Also included in the kit was Lawry's Seasoned Salt, a pack of Skewers (for Kabobs) and a Pyrex Marinating Dish with cover.

We did chicken in the oven. 1 pan with Seasoned Salt, 1 pan with Tuscan Sun-Dried Tomato, and 1 pan of Szechuan Sweet and Sour BBQ. We put the chicken in to marinate about 45 minutes before cooking. I used one skewer so I would have a picture. My family thought they were great! No left overs this time. The Szechuan Sweet and Sour BBQ had a chinese flavor and the Sun-Dried Tomato had a stronger flavor that was a little hot. Both are very good! A couple of my children preferred the chicken with just the Seasoned Salt, but that was just a taste preference.

Getting hungry yet?

Lawry's description:

"Sun-Dried Tomato:
Think of Italy when using this fantastic marinade. Blending herbs like rosemary and oregano, sweet bell peppers and sun-dried tomatoes creates the perfect marinade for chicken, pork or vegetables.

Szechuan:
This authentic marinade features Chinese Five Spice blend, ginger, sesame oil and red pepper. "

You can check out more of their Marinades here. Or perhaps you would like to try one of their recipes.

Lawry's is a well-known company and has once again proven why. I highly recommend these marinades to my neighbors At the Fence.

Lawry's and Blogspark have combined to allow the winner of this giveaway to recieve the same kit I received. The 2 Marinades, 1 Seasoned Salt, a pack of Skewers, and a Pyrex 10" x 15" Bake and Store pan to do your marinating in.

My husband does the grilling at our house...he sprays the grate (is that what you call them?) with non-stick spray (away from the flames!) before each use and after scrubbing them clean!

If I want some extra flavor, I take my older spices, like sage, thyme, rosemary, etc, and throw them on the charcoal just before I but on my food. It gives it an extra flavor.

Grilling tip: You always want to marinate your meats and veggies separately and in the refrigerate for at least 6 hours before grilling them. You use use separate containers and utensils for raw meats and for cooked meats. Never place cooked meats on a tray or container that had raw meats in it until it has been washed.

I wish my hubby could handle grilling more, but the smoke gets to him. When we're at my dad's though, he's a grilling machine so I get my fill there. His grilling secret is this special seasoning he uses. I don't remember the name and you can only get it in CA, but it is AWESOME! It has a little kick and can be used with other sauces.

make sure that if you are going to smoke the meat, you use the correct wood-different woods give it different flavorings. Also, be sure to read up on what woods NOT to use ever! We like to use Mesquite, it gives our meats a great Southwest flavoring.

Baby First TV 'I Can Sign" First Words

Hey Neighbors! Here is a really neat gift idea for someone with a young child.  Here we have I Can Sign (First Words) from Baby First  TV.  Now, I am just going to share right here that we have friends who have taught two of their children to sign at a very young age.  And it works!  Their children could sign before they could talk. The Dvd will teach your child many useful words that will be used in day to day life.  Words like: eat, water, milk, cookie, ear, feet hands, kiss, sleep, book, mother, father, and many other words.  Each word is taught in a short video clip where they will see pictures of the word/item and people signing.  There is also a little character at the bottom corner of the video signing along.  The Dvd can be done on English or Spanish.  Also included on the Dvd are printable coloring pages that you can print off by inserting the Dvd into your computer.  Inside the cover of the Dvd case is a little booklet that covers some of the words you and your child

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back.  Hey neighbors, its with a heavy heart I let you all know that my mom (Lori) unexpectedly passed away the end of June. Our family has been taking the time between now and then to be together and remember what a light mom was. I came on towards the end of last year and was planning on fully moving my interviews and review to this website. I intend to to so partially to keep mommas beautiful website going. Thank you all so much for your love and support over the years. ~Mercy
