A Hatley Store Umbrella!

CLOSED
Hi Neighbors,

Since we are having a rainy day here, I decided to do the review and giveaway with the Hatley Umbrella. Hatley is a really great store. They carry items for the whole family. I was sent the Dinosaur Kid's Umbrella. My daughters love dinosaurs! And like I said, since it is raining here At the Fence what a perfect day to share our umbrella. Come underneath with us while we talk. The umbrella has a wooden handle and tip. The top of the umbrella is 100% nylon, and is green with dinosaurs all over it. My daughter used it to walk to the post office with her sister this morning. Does she like it? You better believe it! She even uses it for shade on sunny days!

I am impressed with the quality and the choices. Many times children's umbrellas are cheaply made, just because they are for children. They often break the first few times time out. Not this one! This is an umbrella that will hold up. I recommend Hatley to my neighbors At the Fence.

A little bit about Hatley:

"It started over twenty years ago with a sense of humor, a talented painter, her restless husband and the Little Blue House gift store in the lakeside village of North Hatley, Canada.

Alice, inspired by the countryside around her, had just finished a series of paintings depicting farmyard animals. Needing a venue to show her work, Alice opened a gallery above her gift shop the Little Blue House. John, Alice’s husband, watched the paintings sell and thought he would create a line of aprons based on Alice’s artwork. John was right, the aprons sold and kept on selling. They quickly turned this cottage business into the company Hatley, supplying retailers with the best cow and pig aprons the world had ever seen. Cows and pigs gave birth to moose and bears, aprons led to gifts and clothing. Hatley thrived, but it was all so much work and John and Alice were looking for a life less complicated.

When retirement beckoned, John and Alice happily handed the reins to their three sons, Chris, Nick and Jeremy. Chris – the eldest decided he should be President, Nick – the only one who could draw became the designer, and Jeremy – the youngest, desperate to boss somebody around, took over production. Restless, like their father, the three boys quickly transformed and grew the company. They developed an extensive children’s line, created comfy women’s sleepwear and expanded into the gift market with napkins, kitchen textiles, mugs and much, much more.

Hatley designs are now sold around the world, and the three boys continue to ensure that Hatley stands for the same principles on which it started: family, good design, quality and of course, loads of laughs. Alice and John can still sometimes be seen roaming the halls of the bustling Hatley warehouse, together with their three sons (and sometimes a grandchild or two)!"

Now, as I stated earlier, Hatley carries a wide variety of products for everyone. They are not an umbrella store. They carry pajamas, daywear, tote bags, and even gifts and kitchen items. I am sure you could find a special gift here for anyone. Perhaps you could find something special for Father's Day.

And the great news is, that Hatley is offering for giveaway, winner's choice of one umbrella off their site.

Baby First TV 'I Can Sign" First Words

Hey Neighbors! Here is a really neat gift idea for someone with a young child.  Here we have I Can Sign (First Words) from Baby First  TV.  Now, I am just going to share right here that we have friends who have taught two of their children to sign at a very young age.  And it works!  Their children could sign before they could talk. The Dvd will teach your child many useful words that will be used in day to day life.  Words like: eat, water, milk, cookie, ear, feet hands, kiss, sleep, book, mother, father, and many other words.  Each word is taught in a short video clip where they will see pictures of the word/item and people signing.  There is also a little character at the bottom corner of the video signing along.  The Dvd can be done on English or Spanish.  Also included on the Dvd are printable coloring pages that you can print off by inserting the Dvd into your computer.  Inside the cover of the Dvd case is a little booklet that covers some of the words you and your child

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back.  Hey neighbors, its with a heavy heart I let you all know that my mom (Lori) unexpectedly passed away the end of June. Our family has been taking the time between now and then to be together and remember what a light mom was. I came on towards the end of last year and was planning on fully moving my interviews and review to this website. I intend to to so partially to keep mommas beautiful website going. Thank you all so much for your love and support over the years. ~Mercy
