Supermarket Smarty Review and Giveaway

Hey Neighbors,

Here is the first in a group of giveaways that I will be listing this week. Supermarket Smarty is a great help for grocery shopping. I was given a Supermarket Smarty to do a review and I will also be holding a giveaway for one.

Let me tell you, with a family of eight, this is wonderful. We travel full-time and are constantly having to run back out for something we forgot to purchase. Now, with this list placed on the refrigerator or above the stove, whenever we find an item we have run out of, someone can mark it down on the list and when we run out, we just take the list with us.

Here is some information on how the Supermarket Smarty was started:
"My name is Patricia and I created Supermarket Smarty. Like many moms, I do most of the grocery shopping for my family, so it’s up to me to make sure we eat healthy while staying within our budget. A couple of years ago I was having some health issues and I consulted many books and websites to adjust my diet for healthy eating. During this time, I found that I needed an easy way to remember all the important foods to include in my diet as well as the nutrition advice I was hearing on television. There is a lot of information out there, so I started a little nutrition “crib sheet” to refer to from week to week that eventually became my shopping list. The list evolved into a dry erase format so it’s reusable. I added a meal planner, pocket for coupons and a magnifying lens to help people read fine print on nutrition labels. The list has become an indispensable tool for me as it not only organizes my grocery shopping but keeps my family on track for healthy eating. I hope you find Supermarket Smarty as useful as I do and it helps you live a more balanced and healthful life!"

Supermarket Smarty comes with a meal planner page so you can write out your meals, and then prepare your grocery list by looking at your planner. This is nice, but the best part is the actual list. It has 5 pages that list most grocery needs broken down into categories, like:Dairy, Deli, Fruits and Veggies, Whole Grains, etc. Included in the front page is a magnifying glass to read labels on the products. (Especially good for me, as I am beginning to have trouble reading fine print!) There is a notes section for other items you might need, along with a pocket to carry coupons. This is the only part of the Supermarket Smarty I would complain about and it really isn't a major complaint. This pocket would never hold all the coupons my daughter uses! The last page is Smarty Tips which lists some nutritional information and symbols which are beside the foods listed, such as Omega-3, Lean Protein, Potassium, Healthy Fat, etc. There is a magnetic clip to hold your Supermarket Smarty on your refrigerator or in some other convenient place. This is the best part, it is dry erase! A re-usable grocery list! And it comes with a retractable dry erase marker. You can take a mini tour of the use of the Supermarket Smarty. I really wanted to share this product At the Fence.

This product could really help me with my shopping by keeping me organized and efficient having all the foods divided up into sections on the list would make my shopping trips quicker and having the meal planner right on the list would make me more likely to stick to what I need and not forget things I need for my meals

I learned that there is a Label Lens embedded on the first page for reading the small print on packaging labels while shopping.

Baby First TV 'I Can Sign" First Words

Hey Neighbors! Here is a really neat gift idea for someone with a young child.  Here we have I Can Sign (First Words) from Baby First  TV.  Now, I am just going to share right here that we have friends who have taught two of their children to sign at a very young age.  And it works!  Their children could sign before they could talk. The Dvd will teach your child many useful words that will be used in day to day life.  Words like: eat, water, milk, cookie, ear, feet hands, kiss, sleep, book, mother, father, and many other words.  Each word is taught in a short video clip where they will see pictures of the word/item and people signing.  There is also a little character at the bottom corner of the video signing along.  The Dvd can be done on English or Spanish.  Also included on the Dvd are printable coloring pages that you can print off by inserting the Dvd into your computer.  Inside the cover of the Dvd case is a little booklet that covers some of the words you and your child

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back.  Hey neighbors, its with a heavy heart I let you all know that my mom (Lori) unexpectedly passed away the end of June. Our family has been taking the time between now and then to be together and remember what a light mom was. I came on towards the end of last year and was planning on fully moving my interviews and review to this website. I intend to to so partially to keep mommas beautiful website going. Thank you all so much for your love and support over the years. ~Mercy
