Jim Elliot DVD Giveaway Torchlighters

CLOSED

Hey Neighbors,

I have a new giveaway. Vision Video graciously supplied me with 3 Torchlighter DVD's to review and host a giveaway with. My family already has enjoyed several of the Torchlighters Heroes of the Faith Series. They are produced with the Christian History Institute, International Films and Voice of the Martyrs. My nine year old daughter loves to read about Gladys Aylward, a missionary to China, so that was one of the videos we chose to review. Torchlighters is an animated series for youth (8-12) that covers real life heroes of the faith.

We have also seen the William Tyndale, Eric Liddell, Richard Wurmbrand, and John Bunyan. Now, I personally am not for animated little cartoon characters that depict Bible stories. That only takes away from the reality and truth of the Bible to our children, but I have to tell you this series is great. My children have truly enjoyed learning with the Torchlighter DVDs. They stick with factual accounts, they do not add some child who traveled back in time, or add a lot of made up information in with the story.

Here is some information from their website:
"Torchlighters are action-packed, award-winning animated videos, featuring real-life faith heroes that kids can depend on. Each DVD features a full-length documentary; complete, reproducible study materials; English and Spanish tracks; subtitles and more.
What age group are Torchlighters geared toward?
Torchlighters are targeted to 8—12 year olds, but are often enjoyed by younger and older children. Many parents express their enjoyment for these programs as well, particularly the accompanying documentaries.
How can you provide so much material at such a low price?
We often hear that our pricing is very reasonable. Many customers can not believe all that they get on a Torchlighter DVD! First, it is important to understand that we view this as a ministry! We want children to know these heroes. Keeping our prices affordable allows many more families to own a set of Torchlighters. Also, we’ve assembled a cost-effective production team that is fully committed to bringing these great stories to life at a cost that allows us to continue the project. Finally, we don’t do aggressive or expensive marketing. Instead, we rely on the many customers who go out of their way to recommend Torchlighters to their friends! Those enthusiastic recommendations are worth more than fancy advertisements."

Now one neighbor will get to win The Jim Elliot Story. Here is their description:
"Geared for children ages 8-12, this stunning, half-hour, action-packed program uses top quality animation to bring to life the story of missionary martyr Jim Elliot.

The year was 1956. From the steamy jungles of Ecuador, news spread around the world that five young American men were mercilessly killed by members of the Auca tribe (now known as the Waodani)--a people those young men had gone to serve and befriend. That seemingly senseless tragedy a half century ago has become an inspirational marvel as that same tribe is now friends with the families of those they killed! This is the story of one of those brave torchlighters--Jim Elliot.

Jim Elliot spent his youth preparing to share the Gospel with those who'd never heard it. But nothing could have prepared him for the dangers and challenges he'd face in the jungles of Ecuador. The remote Auca tribe was suspicious and antagonistic toward even the most friendly of gestures from outsiders. Would Jim and his fellow missionaries ever be able to break down the hostile barriers and carry a torch of faith to this savage people determined to
attack all outsiders?

In this inaugural Torchlighters episode we follow Jim's adventures from his college years to his
work in the jungles, showing young people his faith in action as he answers God's call to do the seemingly impossible."

This series is great for your home, home-school, church library, or a gift. I want to share these At the Fence!

Baby First TV 'I Can Sign" First Words

Hey Neighbors! Here is a really neat gift idea for someone with a young child.  Here we have I Can Sign (First Words) from Baby First  TV.  Now, I am just going to share right here that we have friends who have taught two of their children to sign at a very young age.  And it works!  Their children could sign before they could talk. The Dvd will teach your child many useful words that will be used in day to day life.  Words like: eat, water, milk, cookie, ear, feet hands, kiss, sleep, book, mother, father, and many other words.  Each word is taught in a short video clip where they will see pictures of the word/item and people signing.  There is also a little character at the bottom corner of the video signing along.  The Dvd can be done on English or Spanish.  Also included on the Dvd are printable coloring pages that you can print off by inserting the Dvd into your computer.  Inside the cover of the Dvd case is a little booklet that covers some of the words you and your child

What To Do About Those Fuzzy Uninvited Guests In The Home

When we talk about pests in the home, the most common that we tend to deal with are the creepy-crawlies that find their way in. Ants, termites, and spiders, for instance. Occasionally though, you have a real chance of getting a much bigger, fuzzier unwanted guest in the home. What do you do about the fact your home is at risk of becoming a wildlife sanctuary for some truly unhealthy and even dangerous beasts? Picture by Alexas_Fotos Know the signs It doesn’t matter if you’re in a suburban home, a country cottage, or a fourth-floor apartment. Some animals can find their way just about anywhere. It’s worth knowing the signs of pest infestation so you can confirm it and act on it immediately. Spotting droppings, keeping an ear out for scratching, and looking for signs of nesting like shredded paper, scrunched leaves, and grass clippings around the home without explanation can help you start fighting back.  Hey neighbors, its with a heavy heart I let you all know that my mom (Lori) unexpectedly passed away the end of June. Our family has been taking the time between now and then to be together and remember what a light mom was. I came on towards the end of last year and was planning on fully moving my interviews and review to this website. I intend to to so partially to keep mommas beautiful website going. Thank you all so much for your love and support over the years. ~Mercy
