Talkspace: Therapy Made Easy

Our interactions with one another have been completely reformulated with the use of smart phones. The persistent connection that people have to the world could possibly be making individuals very unhappy. A study has been conducted in South Korea suggesting that over 10 percent of teenagers are likely to suffer from depression due to the usage of the internet. This has resulted in services such as Talkspace, which allows individuals to seek out help from mental health professionals online.

Rather than traveling to a therapist's office, one may simply use their smart phone to seek help. Talkspace offers alternatives such as Skype video and phone calls to a texting platform. Talkspace has recently signed a deal with Magellan Health. Magellan Health clients are expected to be able to access psychotherapy, which will be provided through Talkspace, through their individual assistance program. This means Talkspace could be a part of individual healthcare plans.

Talkspace likes to point out all the benefits of their platform such as the financial benefits. One may spend hundreds of dollars on therapist appointments whereas individuals may spend less time and money doing so online through the Talkspace platform. Talkspace offers a number of different plans for individuals. The cheapest plan starts out at $32 a week, and allows individuals to talk to a therapist once per day via text message. The second plan is available for $39 a week, and offers two visits a day with a therapist via text message. Lastly, the third plan is offered at $49 a week, and this plan allows two check-ins with an additional half-hour live video chat with a therapist once per month.

Scott Christnelly, a licensed social worker and psychotherapist of Talkspace, believes that this platform has become very beneficial. Scott stated that it is important for experts to learn how to communicate with geniality and empathy through written word. Talkspace is constantly changing and revising its approach to better suit all of it's clients.

Talkspace allows individuals to communicate with professional mental health therapists online. The platform offers video and phone calls as well as a text-based chat. The platform offers reasonable prices and benefits for Talkspace customers.

Talkspace is in the process with pairing up with Mangella Health which will allow individuals to have Talkspace included as part of their health care policy. Talkspace has the option for an individual to remain completely anonymous throughout their sessions.
