Fitness Motivation: Find Some and Don't Let Go!

When it comes to staying in shape, maintaining your motivation is an ongoing battle for many of us. Unfortunately, our minds seem to be hardwired into avoiding exercise whenever possible! But there are plenty of methods that you can use to ensure that you keep up your exercise regime all year round. With this in mind, here are just a few common ways that you can keep up your workout motivation. Try out a few of these and see what a difference they can make to your life.

Build Your Own Home Gym

Going to the gym won’t seem like so much of an effort if it is in your very own home! Many people think that this has to be an expensive process, but there is plenty of more affordable equipment out there. Start off by choosing a space in your home, ideally somewhere that you can put up a mirror so you can monitor your form. Just a few pieces of simple and affordable equipment that you can stock your gym with include an exercise mat, jump rope, dumbbells and kettlebells. If you are looking to spend a bit more, check out the best vibration plate, treadmill or rowing machine. Most people build their home gym over time rather than getting everything all at once.

Choose a Workout Buddy

Rather working out on your own, it is worth choosing a workout buddy - preferably one who is motivated and a little bit fitter than you. This way, you always have someone who drags you out on the days that you simply don’t feel like exercising and you are also pushed to achieve that little bit more. It also gives you that added bit of confidence to try out some exercises classes that you may not have wanted to join all by yourself.

Vary Up Your Workout Regimes

If you do the same thing again and again, you are bound to get bored of it. That is why it is so important that you vary your workout regimes up and build in some different activities from time to time. We have already talked about joining new fitness classes, but you could also take up a new sport or simply try some new workouts by yourself.

Set Yourself Goals on a Regular Basis

People tend to work better when they have something to motivate them. The best way you can do this is continually setting yourself new goals and working to achieve them. Make sure that they are realistic or it could have the opposite effect and you may become frustrated when you are not hitting them.

Pick a Regular Workout Time

Rather than working out when you feel like it, you should set regular workout times every week and stick to them. This is where you will need a bit of self-discipline but setting yourself a timetable should really help out. You can also note down how you are progressing each session.

Be sure to share any motivation tips you use!
