Struggling With Your Finances? These Debt Services Can Help

Hey neighbors,

In every neighborhood across the country, there are likely to be households struggling to keep their finances in order. But, what if it happens to you, or one of your loved ones? I thought I would give some helpful advice to point you in the right direction today, so take a look and see if they can help. If you are struggling with debts, the best thing you can do is to confront them head on. These services will give you that opportunity.

Debt emergencies

There are several debts that you have to count as priority. Taxes, home loan payments, and utility companies all have to paid what you owe them, or it could have severe consequences on your life. It’s the only situation where anyone would recommend a payday loan or some kind of crisis loan. However, there are also specialty loans to consider. For example, you could take a look into the terms and conditions of Reliance lending if you are struggling with property taxes. The main point is - you have to pay these debts off first. If you don’t, you could be hit with enormous fines, suffer a repossession, or in severe cases, end up in prison.

Consumer protection

For all other debts, it’s important to understand your rights as a consumer. Borrowing money is just like buying a product, and there are regulations that all lenders have to follow. Their products and services - or loans - must comply with these rules, and if they don’t, you can use it to your advantage. Head over to your local consumer protection agency and find out if there are any complaints about the firm you are dealing with. It won’t get you out of your debt, but it will give you the confidence to stop them harassing you.

Credit counseling

Debt is a big issue, and it can sometimes get on top of people. Thankfully, there are plenty of reputable credit counseling services out there that can help you get through it. They will help you prioritize your debts, save money, and can contact your lenders on your behalf. Most are non-profit, but they will expect a fee to cover their costs. Be careful about these charges, as not all debt counseling services offer good value - and it could lead to even more debt.

Management plans

Debt management plans are a way of paying off your debts little by little. You give the DMP company whatever you can afford each month, and they will pass on the money to your creditors over a specified period. In truth, DMPs are unnecessary, as they only do what you could achieve yourself. And, of course, they will charge you a fee for providing their service. It’s important, see a credit counselor first, to make sure that you are entering a program you can afford. It can take a long time to pay off your debts if you aren’t paying much each month.

I hope this has helped you see the kind of help that is out there for you or your loved ones if you are struggling with debt. If you are planning to use any service, don’t forget to check out their reputation with the Better Business Bureau first.

The Ultimate Homeschool Planner Review

Apologia Ultimate Homeschool Planner

Hey neighbors!

Stick around for a few moments and see what we learned about the "The Ultimate Homeschool Planner - Orange Cover" from Apologia Educational Ministries.  As you can see from my previous statement I received the Orange Cover Planner for review.  This planner is also available in yellow and blue covers.  The planner system was designed by Debra Bell.

When you open your planner there is a small flap inside for holding important papers.  There is a matching flap in the back.  Next page is filled with monthly calendars, starting with June of 2013 and ending with July of 2017.  Each set of calendars is a school year.  Next is a spot to record your personal information.

Apologia Ultimate Homeschool Planner

Next is a 12 page User Guide to teach you how to effectively use your Ultimate Homeschool Planner.  Here you will learn how to use each section of your planner.  Also included in this section are some little tips and hints to help make your school year go a little easier.

Your first section to fill in is your one year planning grid.  Here you make note of days school will be in session, vacation days, co-op days, field trips etc.  Have your husband assist with this section as you plan your year.

The next section is for setting goals for your student.  I like that not only are there Academic Goals, but there are Character Goals.  We personally homeschool, not just for academics, but because we believe this is better all the way around and allows us to train in many different areas.  There is room here for 6 students.

There are some pages to list resources before you get into your monthly planners.  I like the extra space at the bottom for notes.  This is where you can specifically plan each months activities, work out any problems, look at last month's goals and move ahead.

The next section is probably one of my favorites.  It is the Weekly Section.  I love that they set Sunday aside with a page for listing, a Bible Plan, Prayer and even Hospitality/Outreach.  Each week has a Sunday page.  You then move to the Monday-Saturday pages where you plan your days.

After this you have a section to record reading lists, whether fiction, non-fiction, assigned, or just free reading.  I think I would have to add some extra pages here!  There is also room for recording field trips.

The Ultimate Homeschool Planner finishes up with some teaching tips and then an area to look back on your year in review.

The Ultimate Homeschool Planner will help you organize your year and to set out a plan for learning.  Realize I am not saying here that you can not vary or change your plan as you go along, but it gives your homeschool some structure.  All throughout the planner you will find areas to record how the Lord has worked in your family, prayer requests and answers to prayer.  Little extras like this are what makes this planner so unique.

Leather iPhone 6 / 6S Case

Hey neighbors!

Here is a really nice iPhone 6 / 6S Leather Case you can find on Amazon from Barilli.  Let me tell you up front, I think my daughter would have purchased it for the smell.  Love the scent of leather!  When I think of leather purses or wallets I think quality, and the same can be said of this iPhone Case.

The case I received is an orange/red on the outside.  The inside is a deep maroon, felt feel material.  It is an open face case and is made with Tuscany Leather.  The internal part of the case is a polycarbonate which will help protect your iPhone from bumps and such.  Each leather case is handcrafted.

The case is classy enough to use at work or business meetings and yet casual enough to use every day.  I am sure my son will get a lot of use out of this new case.  The case comes nicely packaged for gifting.  It is in a drawstring storage bag inside a sturdy box.  Start thinking gifts!

You can find this case on Amazon, HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!  See you soon!

Premier Sport Wear from McDavid USA! #Review

Most of our family is very active, with various members having their own favorite activities. Some enjoy racquetball, some enjoy tennis, the boys prefer basketball and football (although the girls still enjoy taking them on in these games as well), and I personally enjoy just about anything I can do outdoors-jogging, biking, sports, and my personal favorite, martial arts.

I actually started jogging last summer when M and I decided to enter a 5K race. About one month before the date of the race we signed up, and started training 5-6 days a week. Over the winer we pretty much stopped running due to all the ice, but this past spring I decided to keep going with jogging, even though we weren't looking to race again anytime soon. I actually discovered that I enjoy jogging; there's nothing quite like going out in the early morning and getting 3 or 4 miles done before most people are even out of bed! One thing I had to deal with in the beginning was shin splints though. Last year when we first started jogging, there were a couple times it was so bad we had to take a couple days off. We kept at it though, and soon the shin splints became less of a problem. I knew compression was a good way to help with the issue, so I kept an eye out for some at stores, but didn't really find anything that looked like what I wanted. I took my search online, and discovered McDavid, a company that offers premier sport and performance wear for men and women alike!
I received the Women's Capri Tights from McDavid for review. These are 3/4 length, which is exactly what I like. They are the perfect base layer for sports, and especially for running/jogging! The compression is amazing, and really did help with any pain or discomfort from running-I haven't had shin splints at all since I started wearing these capri tights during my jogging! I also like that they're made with moisture management technology, which means they help keep you dry while running.

These compression tights also came in handy when we started jiu-jitsu classes a few months ago. There's a lot of ground training/fighting, and it's pretty much a given that you need another layer under your uniform. These are perfect for this situation, because the compression means they're not riding up or sliding down even with all the rolling, twisting and shrimping (yes, that's an actual jiu-jitsu move) you do in jiu-jitsu!

Love the inner pocket for cash, etc.!
McDavid offers so many other great sport gear from shirts, shorts, sleeves, pants, and more! Be sure to check out their website if you're in the market for some new performance wear!

Thanksgiving Goodies for Your Dog

1013988_10201391375286281_1981340602_n.jpg

The season of giving is almost upon us once more. It’s time to write the present list and think long and hard about what to buy for your loved ones. You ponder awhile to think of new and exciting gifts to give this year.

Search online to find something different from the standard retail offerings. Unique gifts from cuckooland.com and other outlets, hit the bullseye for originality.

So that’s your family members’ gifts taken care of. But there is another member of your household you need to buy for as well. Your trusted and loyal companion deserves a Thanksgiving gift too. So how will you reward your dog this season?

Food Treats

Irrespective of breed, what dog doesn’t like foodie treats? During the festive season, pet food producers get more inventive year on year. With lots of companies vying for your dog’s attention, pick a quirky gift for them to enjoy. Snacks are shaped in all manner of sizes and designs to cater for animals large and small. Eschew the usual bone this season for something inventive and appetizing. Double up tasty goodies with chew sticks to help maintain your dog’s teeth throughout the festivities.

Winter Warmers

As the chill nights begin to creep in, keep your dog toasty warm this season. Buy a luxurious dog blanket and let them curl up in their dog basket in comfort. Treat them to a new rug for the car so their next journey is a clean and cosy one.

Taking your dog out for walks during the cold months isn’t pleasant for either of you. Walking in the pouring rain, blowing winds, ice and snow, is a challenge in the wintertime. As you wrap up warm in overcoat and gloves, your poor pooch has to run to keep warm! This season, why not buy your dog a coat to keep them warm and dry?

New Home

If your dog spends much of their time outdoors, consider buying a new kennel. A spacious kennel provides an additional space on your property that they can claim as their own. When it rains, they can seek cover quickly rather than returning to the house with muddy paws! Even if your dog prefers the warmth of the hearth, the kennel provides a fun play space in the summertime.

Toys

Toys are a staple for most pets. Interactive and fun, toys keep your dog amused for hours. Educational toys are useful for training, so if you have a puppy consider which toys to buy. If your dog is left alone during the day, toys provide a welcome distraction. Noisy toys are helpful for addressing separation anxiety. When the house is eerily quiet, your dog is treated to the familiar sounds of their squeaky toy. However, be mindful of your neighbors as a noisy toy can be irritating to humans! Soft toys act as a cosy comforter that your dog may also appreciate during moments of anxiety.

No one knows your dog better than you. So take the lead this Thanksgiving and provide a stocking full of doggie treats they’ll love.

Make Your New Pup Feel At Home With These Tips And Ideas

Hi neighbors!

A close friend of mine recently adopted the cutest puppy and asked me for some advice on making him feel at home. This got me thinking about when my family adopted a dog a couple of years ago, and what we did to ensure he felt safe and comfortable.

After coming up with lots of tips and advice for my friend, I thought that I would share what I told her, on here, as well. Just in case there is anyone else out there who is in the process of adopting a new puppy into their family and needs a little bit of help.

puppy 1.jpg

Make up a bed for him or her

First things first, you need to make a bed up for your new family member. This should be somewhere that is comfortable and cozy, and ideal for relaxing and sleeping in. To find the perfect bed, visit your local pet store or have a browse online.

You should be able to find plenty of cool dog beds, so no matter what you are after, there should be something suitable. It’s a good idea to opt for a washable dog bed, so that if your new pup has an accident, it can be easily cleaned.

Where you place the bed is important; kitchens work well as the flooring tends to be easy to clean. However, it’s up to you where you place your dog’s bed.

Buy toys

Puppies are like children; they love to play. To help your new addition settle in, buy him a few toys in advance. Don’t buy adult toys for a younger puppy, opt for specialist puppy ones instead. Rope toys, teething chews, and teddies are ideal for puppies. Any toys that you get your puppy place in his new bed, so that he knows they are his.

Add something that smells like his mom to his bed

When you go to collect your new addition, take a blanket along with you and ask to rub it on his mom and littermates. This should collect some of the scents he is used to and make moving to your home a little bit easier. Pop the blanket in his bed to help comfort him when he’s missing his mom and siblings.

Wrap a clock in a blanket

Puppies are used to being close to their mothers, and can become upset when they are apart. By wrapping a clock in a blanket, you can make them feel a little calmer - the clock sounds like their mother’s heartbeat.

You could also pop a hot water bottle in their bed wrapped in a towel. This will keep them warm and make them feel safe and secure. Puppies are used to sleeping with their mom and littermates and can feel scared being apart from them.

Taking your new puppy home is incredibly exciting, but it’s important to remember, that for him, it can be a scary experience. That’s why it’s important to do everything that you can to make him as comfortable and cozy as possible.

Modest Denim Skirts from Baby'O Clothing! #CouponCode

You may remember a few weeks ago when I shared with you all about the lovely tiered denim skirt I was able to review from Baby'O Clothing. That skirt has become my go-to for casual wear, and I was thrilled when contacted about another opportunity to feature one of Baby'O Clothing's skirts!

I received the Side Button Front Tiered Skirt in a denim blue color this time, and this is another winner from Baby'O! The skirt features off-center front buttons down the length of the skirt, in addition to the 5 tiers. It's definitely eye-catching, and really dresses up the denim to make it nice enough for even Sunday morning church services!

I love the button detailing, as it really makes the skirt stand out. I'm a huge denim fan (I practically live in denim skirts) so having a dressy one makes me very happy. :) One aspect that's very important is that there's no gapping between the buttons. Often with button-down skirts I have to sew along the edge to keep the  material from popping open. That's not an issue with this skirt though; the buttons are close enough together to keep the skirt from gapping.

The length is also another bonus for me; at almost 5'7", I have a hard time finding ankle length skirts. Most skirts that are long enough for me either have a slit up the side (which I sew shut), or are more tight and fitted than I will wear. With both skirts I've received from Baby'O though, the skirts are the perfect length, loose and flowing without being baggy, and don't have slits! The quality of both the material and the workmanship is also excellent. Definitely not some cheap skirt that's going to fall apart after a month of wear, this is designed to last.

Baby'O is offering a coupon code for my readers, 20% off your entire purchase between now and November 8! (Please note, coupon codes can not be combined). Simply enter 20OFF@THEFENCE at checkout to receive 20% off your order!

Koru Naturals Review

Koru Naturals Review

Hey Neighbors!

I recently was given the opportunity to review a few different products from Koru Naturals.  In my box, I received the Skin Clear Cream, Manuka Honey Propolis Soap, and Argan Oil and Sandalwood Hair Tonic.   I was able to review ALL three!  Koru Naturals makes some wonderful health and beauty products from New Zealand available to us here in the US.

 Koru Naturals Review

One of my oldest daughters used the Skin Clear Cream.  This cream contains no parabens, artificial colors or fragrances.  My family likes that it is made of natural ingredients, like the Manuka Honey and Manuka Oil.  There are some other natural, botanical, ingredients like Thyme and Burdock Root.  This cream only takes a small dab and does not leave the skin feeling greasy.  It absorbs quickly into the skin.  My daughter thinks it has what seems like a light citrus scent. Applied twice daily the cream will help restore elasticity and help with acne.  Priced at: $19.20.

 Koru Naturals Review

The Manuka Honey Propolis Soap obviously also contains Manuka Honey.  This bar of soap is highly moisturizing.  It has a pleasant, not overpowering, honey scent.  It does not dry out your skin.  I have hesitated having my one daughter try the bar of soap because she reacts to different scents and products, but because of the gentle nature of this soap I am going to have her go ahead and try it. You can purchase the soap for $7.90.

 Koru Naturals Review

Now, this was my favorite product of the three,  the Argan Oil and Sandalwood Hair Tonic.  I have four daughters, who all have long hair.  A couple have issues with some frizzing and another has extremely fly away hair.  So, they have started applying just a drop or two rubbed on their palms before heading out the door.  It gives a beautiful shine as well as controls the frizz.  I personally like the fragrance.  It has a deep smell, sort of like the musky perfumes I like.  This is $12.20 a bottle on the Koru Naturals website.

Koru Naturals has many more products on their website for your family.  They have everything from lip balm to skin and hair care.  They do have free shipping on orders of $35 and up.  Take a few minutes ad look around their website.

You can find Koru Naturals on their social media pages:
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/korunaturals

Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/korunaturals/

I really liked all three of the products we received from Koru Naturals.  If you like natural products add Koru Naturals to your list.  Also if you are allergic to Tea Tree Oil be sure to check the ingredients list.  My one daughter reacts to tea tree oil so I do not allow her to use. this.

The Crew members were offered a choice of several different products from Koru Naturals.  Please take moment and see what the other TOS Crew members thought about the products they received by clicking on the link below..

Reformation Day Giveaway

Hey neighbors!

Here is a great giveaway!  I am presently reading this book and will be sharing it with the whole family soon as part of our family nights.  Extremely well written and very interesting!  Not to mention this is one of my husbands favorite historical figures!  Read on and then be sure to enter.

October 31 commemorates what has become known as "Reformation Day." Martin Luther’s nailing of his ninety-five theses to a church door on October 31, 1517 in Wittenburg, Germany, provoked a debate that resulted in what we now call the Protestant Reformation. As the “Father of the Reformation”, Martin Luther is a vital figure in Church history. His sacrifice and willingness to wage battle against the spiritual, religious, and political powers of his medieval world allowed Christians throughout time to embrace the truth of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone as explained by Scripture alone. Author Danika Cooley has written Luther's story for young people in her new book, When Lightning Struck!: The Story of Martin Luther.

A Step by Step Guide to Getting Ready to Start Going to the Gym

Hi Neighbors!

If you’ve never used a gym before and you’re thinking of joining, you might feel a bit intimidated. Many people in the gym know their stuff, and you might feel like a fish out of water trying to muddle through if you go with no idea of what you’re doing. Use this step by step guide to start the gym to help you feel better!

Have an Induction

Some gyms will make inductions compulsory. Others will give you the option to pay for one if you feel you need one. However, you should always have an induction if you’re new to the gym. An induction will help you get to better understand the equipment and the layout of the gym. This means you don’t have to walk in without a clue of where to go or what to do!

Buy Proper Training Clothes

You must train in proper training clothes. Not only will you actually look as if you know what you’re doing, you’ll also be safer as you workout. If you’re working with heavy equipment and wearing baggy clothing, you run the risk of getting caught and seriously hurting yourself. Buy proper gear so that you’re safer and more comfortable. Make sure you buy quality clothes, and find styles you like so you look forward to getting dressed for the gym. It all helps!

Stock Up on Good Food and Supplements

Good food is a must. It supports your training and keeps you motivated enough to go to the gym. Supplements are not the be all and end all like many people think they are. However, supplements can compliment a good fitness routine perfectly. You can even find stimulant free pre workouts these days, perfect for getting you focused before you go to work out. There’s something for everyone!

3407494430_dc4fa831fc_z.jpg

Do Your Research

Do your research so you know what type of exercise you want to do. You should learn what it can do to your body and some of the science behind it, so you actually understand why you do things. You’ll be more likely to stick to it this way! It can be a lot to take in, so keep researching until it sticks.

Create a Plan

When you’ve done your research and you know what type of exercise you should be doing, you can create a plan. You can either do this on your own if you feel confident enough, or get one from a professional. There are many online fitness professionals, or you can contact a Physical Trainer at the gym who will likely be happy to help you.

Start off Slowly

This part is so important: do not rush. If you try to go to the gym 6 times a week and you’re not used to it, you’ll likely exhaust yourself and crash. Start off by going 3 times a week, and get used to that schedule first. Soon enough, you’ll want to visit more and you’ll get into a really good routine.

Ready to change your body and life for the better? Get started!

WonderWorks Attraction in Pigeon Forge!

It amazes me that we have driven by the WonderWorks in Panama City Beach, FL so many times, yet we never actually visited. It seems we were always on our way to or from somewhere, and never took the time to stop in. Visiting Pigeon Forge is a different story though, and we were excited when WonderWorks sent tickets for the four of us to visit on our recent vacation!

WonderWorks is definitely a building you will recognize after seeing it just once. An upside-down building draws the eye, and holds a fun adventure for the whole family! After passing through the turnstile, you are offered the option of going through a tunnel, or taking the "safe" route through a door. The tunnel is one of those that makes you feel like the whole room is spinning, and normally these don't faze me in the least, but this one had even me grabbing for the rail towards the end!

The WonderWorks attraction takes about 2 hours to go through, more or less depending on how much you get involved with all the interactive exhibits. We tried out the How Cold Is It, which allows you to feel how cold the water was when the Titanic sank. There's even a timer so you can see who can hold their hand in the longest!

There are seriously so many things to do and see while at WonderWorks. M enjoyed the ATV and Boards, and we even tried our hand at landing a space shuttle! (NASA won't be calling us anytime soon!)

The Recollections and Strike a Pose exhibits were a big hit with M especially, who enjoyed dancing, posing, and just having fun in this area. Oh yes, and the giant piano gave both the girls a fun time!

My favorite part was the forensic science exhibit, as I have always found this an interesting topic. The facial recognition part was neat, and M loved printing out her fingerprint card.

Oh yes, one other exhibit I thought was SUPER neat was the Smart Glass. I had actually heard of this technology before, but actually seeing it was exciting! Check out the video below to see what I mean.

WonderWorks is a great place for your family to enjoy while on vacation in Pigeon Forge, but if you're not in the Smoky Mountains anytime soon, you can also find 5 other locations across the US. Check it out next time you're nearby, and have some fun with the family!

FishFlix.com and Do You Believe?

FishFlix.com Review no 2

Hey neighbors!

I recently received the DVD of Do You Believe? from FishFlix.com for review purposes.  My husband had a I had a attended a preview screening many months ago, as a church leader type screening,  but the rest of the family had not yet seen it, so I was pretty excited to get a copy for review purposes.  We planned a family night when every one was home to watch it.  Thank you FishFlix.com.

FishFlix.com Review no 2

The storyline of Do You Believe? allows you to see the connections between the lives of several different people and the effect they have on each other without any of them realizing it.  It sort of gives a God's eye view rather than the human eye view of how many lives you affect without even being aware of it.  It shows the importance of how we respond to each person we meet.  I really enjoyed watching it a second time and catching some of the things I missed the first time. The only thing I personally had a problem with was the idea that everyone became a Christian except one.  This did not ruin the film though, it was just something my husband and I picked up on.

The whole family enjoyed the film and decided it was a keeper.  Do You Believe? is done by the same people who did God's Not Dead, which we also enjoyed. We also liked seeing Christians who had a choice to stand or fold and the struggles they went through deciding to do the right thing.  Definitely worth seeing!  You might even cry during a couple of scenes, I did.

FishFlix.com is a great place to shop for your Christian DVD needs.  Remember them for gifts over the holidays!  We previously reviewed another DVD from Fisfflix.com previously.  Fish Flix carries so many different christian DVDs.  They have fictional stories like Do You Believe? as well as documentaries, and educational films.  Homeschoolers can take advantage of their creation science DVDs as well.  They have free shipping on orders over $35.From perusing their website they seem to carry just about everything available.  Oh, and they have a $5 sale going on right now.  I am not sure how long it will last, so be sure to click over and see what they have available.  What a great gift idea!

My Top Tips For Improving Your Oral Hygiene

Hey neighbors!

Every aspect of my health and fitness is important to me, from the food I eat to the exercise I get. There can be things big and small that make a difference to how healthy I am. So I try to incorporate lots of things into my lifestyle to make it healthier. Apart from major considerations like my diet and workout routine, there are also other things to think about. Necessities like looking after my skin and teeth might not seem as significant. But they're still important. Plus, they tie into what I eat and my activity levels. One of the things I have always tried to do is look after my teeth and oral health. My husband was a dental assistant in the military and he set down some dental health rules in the home. If you want to improve yours, here are some of my top tips.

11693757123_51e3b9be55_z.jpg

Get a New Toothbrush

A lot of people will hang onto a toothbrush for ages. Even if they can see it's getting past its best, they only remember to replace it when they're brushing. As soon as they leave the bathroom, they've forgotten again. I always keep some spares in my bathroom cabinet. But I prefer to have an electric toothbrush and some extra heads. Electric toothbrushes aren't for everyone. Some people don't like the feel of them on their teeth. But I think they give you a more thorough clean with less work. If you're not sure what to look for in an electric toothbrush, you can check out toothbrushman.com. There you will find lots of reviews to help you find the right one for you.

Use a Mouthwash

Brushing your teeth might clean them, but it doesn't tackle the rest of your mouth. It helps to get rid of plaque on your teeth, but there could still be bacteria left. A good mouthwash not only helps to make your mouth cleaner, but it leaves you feeling more refreshed. Some people like to brush their tongue, but if it makes you gag, you might be better off using mouthwash. It can kill off any bacteria you didn't manage to clean away with brushing. You can also find medical washes that can help you tackle any problems, such as gum disease or mouth ulcers.

Don't Forget to Floss

Flossing is also an important thing to do after brushing, and I always make sure that I do it. Using a toothbrush won't necessarily do a great job of cleaning between your teeth. Flossing will take care of that. Most experts recommend that you should floss every day. Some say you should always do it after brushing your teeth. It helps to prevent gum disease by stopping the buildup of plaque.

Change When You Brush

Changing your brushing and flossing routine could help you to improve your oral health too. Some dental hygiene experts say that you should brush and floss 20 minutes after each meal. You should be careful not to brush your teeth too soon after having sugary drinks or other foods that could soften the enamel.

If you want to improve your oral hygiene, there are lots of steps you can take. I recommend starting with the ones above first. See you soon!
