Oransi Ionic Fridge Air Purifier

Hey Neighbors!

How many of you have heard of Oransii?  I have previously used their Robby Wash Ball.  Just recently I received a Oransi Ionic Fridge Air Purifier ($29).  For such a tiny product I am impressed by it's capabilities.  The Purifier works on two AA batteries, which should last for .  It's small size:
  • Dimensions: 4” x 2.8” x 2.5”,
is perfect for placing in your refrigerator without taking up much room.

I am not sure how it is in your home, but with 8 people in the family, we are constantly moving, storing, and rearranging things in our refrigerator.  Because of this, some foods get left in longer than they should be and cause interesting odors!  Then of course there are the spicy things my family loves.  Everyone eats Mexican, so they are always salsas, dips and such.  Mix that with the onion that I use in just about everything from salads, to tuna, to just about any meat I cook.  And then my daughter uses garlic as often as possible.  Not to mention just normal refrigerator odors.  So, the Oransi Fridge Air Purifier helps with this.  It really removes odors, which I really appreciate!

Here is how it works:
Featuring patented Piezo-electric technology your refrigerator is cleaned silently without the harmful side effects of ozone that is found in standard ionizers.

Also be sure to "Like" Oransi on Facebook and the follow them on Twitter!

Now, this giveaway is going to be run just a little bit different than the others.  This time you must Pin It, to Win It.

All you need to do for the main entry is pin the above photo on your Pinterest Page.  One neighbor will receive an Oransi Ionic Fridge Air Purifier.

Disclosure:I received no monetary compensation for this post.  I did receive a Fridge Air Purifier for review purposes.  Any quotes in red are taken from the Oransi website.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Golden Prairie Press Costumes with Character

Hey Neighbors!

I received this really neat e-book from Golden Prairie Press.  It is called Costumes with Character ($21.95).  You can also purchase the printed book for a little more.  The book, written by Amy Puetz is filled with costume ideas.  My daughter loved it.  As my neighbors know, she LOVES dress up.  Some days she changes clothing 4-5 times!

In the book Costumes with Character, Amy shares many different patterns you can make easily at home.  She also gives tips on how to take one basic dress and with a few accessories, change the whole look.  Personally I like that she also gives a short 1-3 page history of the different time periods, along with questions.  She does include the answers! :)  My daughter especially liked the dresses from the Romantic Era       (1820-1848).  Many of her tips are on adding an apron, scarf, hat, vest, etc. that each change the look just enough to make a big difference in the appearance.

Her other favorite of course is the Victorian Era (1890s).  She loves the ruffles and hats!  And of course she owns a parasol or two!  I think she would have loved to live in one of these time periods.

You can also order the Pattern Book from Golden Prairie Press.  All of these books are on sale right now, through Sept. 1st so if you hurry over you can get them at an even better price.

Now, I just have to share this with you.  We have not actually created any of the costumes yet, but we are going to!  My 11 year old, the one who likes to dress-up, talked her father into helping her write a short play for the family to act out.  They chose some of their favorite characters from books and such and designed a play.  It is called, "Sherpop Holmes Meets Habit and Costello".  As you can tell it will be slightly humorous.  It includes:Sherpop Holmes, Habit and Costello, Spollyanna, Nancy Snooze, Maria Von Sappe, and Anne of Blue Fables.  Amazing!  I get o video tape the whole thing.  Sherpop Holmes is seeking to find out, who's on first!  I can't wait to see the finished program!  Anyway, we will use some of the costume ideas in our play!  Super!

Now neighbors, take a minute and visit some of the other Crew Members to see what they are saying!  Some of them reviewed other books from Golden Prairie Press!

Hello Neighbors!

How is everyone today?  We have been doing some extra chores around the house, some yardwork, etc.  We have been very busy! Now, I have another great item to share with my Neighbors from Peter Pauper Press!

Peter Pauper Press let me chose another item for review.  We chose the Acadian Tapestry Journal and the Acadian Tapestry Roller Ball Pen ($14.95).  These are really pretty!

Here is a little bit about Peter Pauper Press... "

These are really great.  On the inside of the back cover there is a little pocket to hold some papers/cards/etc.

On the right!
See!  Isn't that handy?!?

Here is a little bit about the Acadian Tapestry Journal... "With cover art inspired by patterns from tapestries, this journal invites you to weave the threads of your life into the design of memory. Embossed with gloss highlights. 160 lined pages, 5" wide x 7" high, bookbound, elastic band place holder." ($8.99)

My mom really loves these.  She loves the design, color and usefulness.  She said she will probably be using these when she does her morning devotions.

And the pen is great!  You can even tell just by holding it that it is well made.  You can even buy the refills for ($1.95).  Peter Pauper Press is one of our favorites!

Combat Source Kill Max Ant Bait and Gel

Hey Neighbors!

I don't know how it has been at your home, but here At the Fence, we have seriously had some ant problems.  My husband says they are coming in for water because it is so dry outside.  That sounds realistic to me because I see them mainly in the kitchen and bathroom.  And of course we have had some in my daughters' bedroom.  When we changed the enclosed back patio into a bedroom for them we added a window AC unit.  The ants seem to be getting in around the unit.  We need to "Get rid of ants!"

Well, since we received the Combat Source Kill Max Gel, I had my son (19), put some of the gel around the girls' window AC.  This should really cut down on ants in their bedroom.  The Combat Source Kill Max Ant Gel contains Fipronil a fast acting ingredient.  It is still slow enough that foraging ants can return to the colony and feed the bait to larvae and queens so the entire colony will die.  All you need to do is apply the gel near ant trails, colonies and anywhere you might suspect ant activity.  Obviously place it out of the reach of children and pets.

The Combat Source Kill Max Ant Bait is a little container that the ants enter and then carry bait back to their colony.  These can easily be placed under bathroom or kitchen counters, under bookcases and other furniture where children and pets will not be able to reach them.  This kills ants without messy residue or insecticide odors.

My neighbors here can enter the Combat Bug-Free Backyard Bash Sweepstakes. Combat is having a $1,000 Sweepstakes.  One lucky winner will be able to hold their very own Bug Free Backyard Bash.  The winner will also receive an assortment of Combat brand products to ensure that ants don't spoil their Bash.

All you need to do to enter is click on this link, watch a short 1:30 video, and then fill out the form.

So neighbors, if you need to get rid of ants, be sure to try the Combat Source Kill Max Ant Bait and Gel.  One neighbor will receive a box of Combat Ant Gel (1 tube).

Disclosure:I received no monetary compensation for this post.  I did receive samples of the Ant Bait and Gel.  All quotes in red are from the Combat website.  All thoughts and opinions are mine.

Faber-Castell's Creativity for Kids! Party Time!

Ready for a girl's party!
Hey Neighbors!

I was chosen to host a Creativity for Kids Party.  Now, I have to tell you that the hardest part was keeping my daughter out of the boxes as they arrived.  She LOVES crafts!  Anyway we planned to do the party on our back deck, but wouldn't you know, just about the time we got all set up it started to rain.  Can you say, "Inside crafts!"  Everyone grabbed everything and brought it inside.

We tried just about everything in the box and took so many pictures that we decided to just do a slide show.  We added music so you can enjoy seeing all the arts and crafts Creativity for Kids sent us!  It was super fun!  Everyone came away with a craft of some kind that they had worked on.

Included in the party:
Tie Dye Bandanas
Fashion Bracelets
Fashion Headbands
Deluxe Glitter Art
Pop up Books
Fun With Fashion Activity Book
Tote Bags
Pop-Art Necklaces
Aprons (To keep clothing clean!)

What fun was had by all!  I do recommend that only older children be allowed to do the Tie Dye Bandanas without adult supervision.  It can create a mess if not supervised.  These kits are super easy and great fun!  My daughter especially enjoyed making the headbands and bracelets!

Of course we included snacks, like pizza, chips and salsa, and Sonic drinks!  I believe everyone had a fun time!  One of my older daughters even liked the Tie Dye Bandanas!

These Creativity for Kids craft kits are perfect for rainy days (don't you know!), family fun nights, play days, girl's nights, sleepovers, whatever comes to mind!  And they are designed for varying ages, so everyone can have fun!  Be sure to look for Creativity for Kids Craft Kits!  And then "Like" Creativity for Kids on Facebook, so you can keep up with all the fun!

Now the great news is, because there were so many crafts and everyone did different ones...I still have a couple left over and would love for one of my neighbors to enjoy them.  So I am putting together 1 Fun with Fashion Coloring and Activity Book, 1 Tie Dye Bandana and I will include 1 extra surprise from our leftovers.  Perfect!

Disclosure:I received no monetary compensation for this post.  I did receive a huge box of Creativity for Kids Craft Kits for review purposes in conjunction with Mommy Parties.  All quotes in red are from the Creativity for Kids website.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sunbeam Heated Pet Bed Insert

Hey Neighbors!

I received this really great Sunbeam Heated Pet Bed Insert.  And before I say anything else I need to tell you I LOVE it!  My daughters cat decided it was too cold in our house.  Now, I do admit that I personally prefer it on the chilly side, but sitting on my backup battery system for my computer was not winning her any points in my book.  She was sitting on the vent area for hours on end.  She was even dozing off sitting up!  So, I was overjoyed to receive this product for review.

Now, if she is missing, all I have to do is go into my daughters room, where she is relaxing in a pet bed with the heated insert.  She is there constantly now.  It is actually quite amusing watching her.  Wait until you see the pictures!

The Pet Bed Insert has soothing heat technology.  DO NOT use this around a pet who chews on things.  This does plug in to the wall so there is an electrical cord involved.  Place the heating insert in any pet bed, under the cushion.  We put ours on top of the cushion and then laid a soft fleece blanket over it, because our padded cushion is attached.  You do not want your pet laying on the actual insert.

Visit the Sunbeam Pets website to get more information and to view other products they have available.  These products are exclusive to PetSmart.

One neighbor will receive a Sunbeam Heated Pet Bed Insert.

Nutrisystem Has Started!

Hey Neighbors!

My Nutrisystem D has arrived.  It was so exciting to unpack the box and cooler.  I mean I received 30 days worth of food.  And they have some really great meals!  I LOVE that each food package you receive is color coded for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack.  It filled the top of my freezer and I have my own shelf in the pantry now.

This was great!  It is like a Philly cheesesteak melt.
I will tell you that being diabetic and having come off my medication completely by counting carbs, I am having to do a little swapping and substituting. I am really monitoring my glucose.  I have been doing things like having my dinner for lunch and the the lower carb lunch for dinner.  I also sometimes have a lower carb snack than they offer.  Not bad so far though.  I think it just might work!
This was sooooo good!

Check out the omelet!
I do have to share this one story though.  The first hamburger I tried was interesting.  First off, it is a pantry item.  That means, it has been dehydrated.  When you open the package and touch it, it looks and feels like cardboard.  BUT... don't stop there!  After you add the boiling water.... It is delicious!  I melted a piece of cheese on mine and ate it without bread.  Super!

These last two are a tad spicy!

Along with all this wonderful food I received a water bottle to keep track of water consumption.  This is extremely important.  then of course they have a wonderful support system through their website.  Not to mention Facebook.

Having said all this and shared the pictures of the food, I am truly looking forward to continuing the Nutrisytem D program and will have a weekly post so you will also know how I am doing!  I am still doing my treadmill and as it starts to cool off I will start walking in the neighborhood.  I will be back next week to update you.

Want to lose weight and get healthy on Nutrisystem? Join today by calling (1-888-853-4689) or by visiting (http://www.nutrisystem.com/nsblog)

Disclosure:I received no monetary compensation for this post.  I will be receiving Nutrisystem free of charge for review purposes.  All quotes in red are taken directly from Nutrisystem.  All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Time 4 Writing!

Hi Neighbors!

I recently was able to review Time 4 Writing.  My daughter took their online Middle School Mechanics.  She helps on the blog and we figured this would help to improve her writing skills.  (Sometimes I think I need to re-take a course!)  Anyway, I have to say I really enjoyed her using this system.  She is assigned a teacher, who grades all her assignments.  If she has questions, she has access to her teacher through email.  Each day all she does is sign in, complete her assignment for the day, submit it and then wait for it to be graded.  The teacher usually has it graded by that evening!  Super!

The teachers she has had have all been great about grading and leaving her feedback when she has needed it.  She did have to change teachers about a week or so ago as her original teacher is on maternity leave.  It was a very smooth transfer though and we didn't see any major differences between the teachers.

Now, let me tell you a little about Time4Writing.  These are one on one writing courses taught by certified teachers.  They offer 8 week writing courses for elementary through high school.  The eight week course is $99.  They also have some free writing resources available on their site.  Your child can greatly benefit from using Time4Writing.

I believe it really helped improve my daughter's writing and given her more confidence in her abilities. She is almost finished with her 8 week course and she has done great.  I think she actually enjoys being in charge of her course this way, being able to choose when she works on the course and how fast she wants to go.  She logs in, completes her assignments and turns them in.  There are quizzes she is to take.  Her teacher grades assignments and quizzes and turns them back in with comments and or explanations.  She is able to go back and correct her errors.  Also as I stated earlier, she can email her teacher at any time with any questions she has.  Their response has always been quick and easy to understand.

About Time4Writing Middle School courses:
The middle school writing courses start at the beginner level with a basic writing mechanics course, which focuses on writing fundamentals such as sentences vs. fragments, subjects and predicates, subject-verb agreement and capitalization. Intermediate courses include writing enhancements, paragraph writing and a middle school essay writing course that is designed to strengthen the student's ability to write a well-structured essay. The advanced middle school writing course teaches students to find their voice and create essays that match style and media. Online writing tutoring by certified teachers ensures middle school students are as proficient constructing a solid paragraph as they are crafting a well-balanced essay.

Several of the other Crew Members reviewed Time4writing also.  Click on the banner below to see what they think!

GlassesUSA!

Hey Neighbors!

Have you done all your back to school shopping?  Did anyone need glasses?  We have 2 people in our family who have to wear them all the time.  And then my daughter and I need them for reading.  Right now I just use reading glasses, but I can see prescription glasses coming soon!  What do you look for when you order glasses?  Do you always buy local?  Do you ever order online?  How much does price affect your decision.
These are the Blue Joey.

We have previously ordered from GlassesUSA.com and been very satisfied.  My daughter received her last pair of glasses from them.  We were able to do everything right online!  We just needed her prescription, a recent one, then she chose a couple of frames she liked.  After going back and forth a few times she finally came to a decision and we placed the order.  They kept us updated throughout the procedure and let us know when they shipped.  They are her everyday glasses right now.

We may have a need for GlassesUSA.com again soon as my husband just broke his frames. He has prescription glasses but they are bifocals.  He broke the frame when they fell to the floor.  This pair has the line in the lens and he wants his new pair without the line.  We actually had to use superglue the frame for our trip because his lens fell out.  Time to get new glasses!
These are Kris frames found at GlassesUSA.

My 11 year old also has eyeglasses for now.  Hers are for reading only and they say she will probably outgrow the need for them.  Personally I think she likes them because she likes glasses period.  Of course she likes all kinds of fashion accessories, like scarves, hats, bracelets, so why not glasses!

One thing my daughter liked about GlassesUSA is they have this virtual mirror feature where you can see how the glasses would look on you.  Really a neat idea!  You can upload a photo of yourself, use your webcam, or use one of theirs.  Then you can try on the different eyeglasses available.  They have just about every style and shape imaginable.  I just tried it out and it works great!  I took a picture with my webcam and then was able to adjust the glasses and position of my head to see how they looked.  I included a couple of pictures of some frames that I liked.  Have any of my neighbors tried this feature?  Let me know what you thought.  Or if you haven't try it out and then tell me what you think.

Now, when I tell you that GlassesUSA has cheap eyeglasses, I do not mean quality, I mean they have quality glasses at a reasonable price.  Go check them out for yourselves.  I think you will be surprised.  And here is a discount they have included for my neighbors:

STOREWIDE OFFER - Take 15% off your entire order amount + FREE shipping (orders over $50). Code: FS15

Take 10% off any order of prescription glasses. Code: Blog10

From EyeglassesUSA.com:
Our goal is to give you the best eyewear products in the quickest time-frame possible! Why should you have to wait for your eyeglasses frames? We have a variety of shipping methods so that YOU can choose the shipping method that best suits your needs. After just one order, you will see why GlassesUSA is the premier place to buy discount prescription eyeglasses online.

Dot to Dot by Monkeying Around!

Hello Neighbors!

This is one of my favorite things to take on trips for keeping the children busy!  Dot to Dot books from Monkeying Around are not your average dot to dots.  These are amazing!  The new book we received The Greatest Dot to Dot Adventure Book 1($8.95) has dot to dots that are two and even three pages wide.

My daughters LOVE to do these while we are driving, sitting at a restaurant, spending time together in the evening at a hotel, or whenever they have some free time.  These Dot to Dot books by Monkeying Around have anywhere from 160 dots to over 1,000.  Some of these are very detailed.  I am sure you will be astounded!

Each page has directions for you to follow, so you will know when to stop and start in a new spot.  Some are numbers, a few are alphabet.  A couple have numbers but no dots.  They are really alot of fun!
A completed dot to dot. (A compass)

This one is a little boy in bed.

About Monkeying Around:
Since 2000 Monkeying Around has been dedicated to offering innovative dot-to-dot products that will delight and entertain children and adults of all ages. We are pleased to offer "The Greatest Dot-to-Dot Books in the World" (Original Books 1, 2, 3 & 4), a challenging collection of unique dot-to-dot suprises and variations. We are also pleased to offer "The Greatest Newspaper Dot-to-Dot Puzzles" (Vols. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 & 8), pocket / travel sized collections of weekly syndicated puzzles published in the pages of USA newspapers. In 2007 the first of the "Greatest Dot-to-Dot Super Challenge" (5, 6, 7 & 8) Books was introduced with Book 5 and Book 8 in 2010.

We have actually worked in several of the Monkeying Around Dot to Dot books.  Several of the dot to dots when completed could even be colored or painted and then hung on display.  We actually met Monkeying Around at ChiTAG (The Chicago Toy and Game Fair).

She is starting a 3 pager!
About David Kalvitis:
"I have looked on Ebay and collected dot-to-dot books dating back to the 1920's. I know they went back much earlier than that. In my books I even made humorous references to the history of dot-to-dots, because I personally couldn't find the origins. There was a book that inspired me but I don't know the title, author or date (probably late 60's or early 70's). I remember the puzzles having lots of numbers and the images being fairly detailed. At that age lots of numbers may have been 50 for me, but it seemed like so many. As an adult I would occasionally create a dot-to-dot puzzle just for fun. I came to realize that all the dot-to-dot books available were for young kids just learning numbers, with drawings that gave away the final pictures. I decided I wanted to design a really intricate dot-to-dot puzzle book for the big kids, with lines wandering all over the place and numbers climbing well into the hundreds. While working on and off for seven years on this goal, I came up with new dot-to-dot puzzle variations involving multiple lines, connecting coordinates and even connecting symbols."

Barely begun!

You can find the Monkeying Around Dot to Dot books at local merchants, online catalogs and stores, or you can mail or fax in your order.  These books would make great rewards for good grades, prizes in contests at school, birthday presents, or just because.  The Dot to Dot Books are available with different skill levels too!  Be sure to "like" Monkeying Around on Facebook.  Then stop by and follow them on Twitter!  And if you would like to try one first, they have a couple of samples you can download on their website!
look how big it is!
