My Twinn Doll Review and Giveaway!

 Hey Neighbors!

This is the last day of the Fall Festival.  Sunday is a day off, and then Monday starts the Gift Basket Bonanza!  So I decided to make the last product a big one.  How many of you have heard of My Twinn?  They are the most gorgeous dolls!  And the best part is, they can be made to look like your little girl.  I received a ready made doll for review.  She is so pretty.  Dressed for Fall too!  These dolls are so well made.  I am really impressed with the quality of My Twinn.  Not only do these dolls look like your daughter, they can even dress alike.  My Twinn is 23 in. tall.  Of course there are various accessories for your child to get to play with her new doll.  My Twinn also has baby dolls available.  What little girl would not want a My Twinn Doll?

Isn't she pretty!

When you custom order a doll, you will be asked to choose a skin color.  Send a picture of your child's face and describe any freckles or unique markings.  You also choose hair length and color.  If there is any curl or wave to the hair.  And of course eye color.  Then you get to choose from several outfits. The doll looks as close to your daughter as possible, thus the name My Twinn.  The Custom Doll is $149 and takes approx.  4 weeks.

Cute Fall Outfit!

Equestrian Design Kit from Hearthsong Review and Giveaway!

Hello Ladies,
Here is a really nice Fall activity for your children.  Hearthsong sent me their Equestrian Design Kit along with the Construction Tone Pencils.  My son really likes horses.  He collects Breyer Horses and has them on display in his room.  I think it has alot to do with him enjoying the West.  As a matter of fact we just visited the Texas Ranger Museum.  Anyway, this is a really nice drawing kit for many hours of indoor fun!  You get to create your own horses and scenes.  It allows you child to trace, draw, shade, and design their own scenes.  The kit comes with loads of traceable bodies, heads, manes and tails so you can put them together however you would like.  Trace the body you want first, then line it up and add the head of your choice. Position your tracing paper over the mane and tail you want and then add a accessories and a rider if you wish.  There are so many possibilities with this drawing kit.  And all you need is your imagination!  Perhaps some more tracing paper when you run out.  If you really like one of your finished products, you could get a mat and mount it to hang on your wall!

Hearthsong carries many toys and crafts that I would love to try for my family at some point in time.  They have indoor as well as outdoor toys.  I mean, what child would not want to play with one of their Great Big Outdoor Playballs!  I know my children would love the game table with the large chess pieces.  All of us play chess and most of my children learned chess before checkers!  It is a family competition thing!  Really you need to just visit their website and see all they have to offer.

The winner of this giveaway will receive the Equestrian Design Kit with the Construction Color Pencils.

Sorry I forgot to add these earlier.

ImagiPLAY Review

Hey Neighbors!

I received the cutest wooden puzzle from ImagiPLAY  It is called ColorMeUp Pandas.  They are so cute!  And not only does your child get a puzzle to play with, but they also get to paint it.  It comes with a small set of paints for your child to use.  It is a 14 piece puzzle, that measures approx. 6 x 4.5 x1/5",  So after using their creative talents to paint, they then get to take the puzzle apart and put it back together.  As, a side note, we painted one side and then used washable markers on the other side.  I think the markers gave a little better control over where the color went.  The ColorMeUp Pandas run $14.99

Choosing the right color.

Hard at work painting!

ImagiPlay has dozens of toys and crafts to choose from.  Push and Pull toys, Playsets, Lacing Sets, Bead Mazes, and even Food Play Sets.  I really like the quality of the puzzle we received.  And of course being made of wood this puzzle will last.  There is also a Learning Center you can visit where your child can choose different animals and learn a little bit about them as well as see pictures.
A little about ImagiPLAY:

Regular side.

Colorful side!

Producing toys using only materials and processes that show respect for the planet and all the people and creatures upon it has remained ImagiPLAY's promise and challenge. All of ImagiPLAY's toys are made from eco-friendly materials, with plantation-grown rubberwood being a favorite. Rubber trees produce a sap that is used to make latex products. At the end of their latex-producing years (generally 25-30 years) the trees are harvested and new ones planted. But these wonderful trees have one more gift to give us -their beautiful, splinter-free hardwood, from which ImagiPLAY makes many of its award winning, heirloom quality toys. Products for which Rubberwood is not suitable are made from wood from managed forests. ImagiPLAY's factories are placed close to the neighborhoods where its craftsmen live so that the majority of them can walk or ride their bikes to work each day, enabling its craftsmen to maintain quality relationships with their own children while they make toys for others.

You can find ImagiPLAY on Facebook and on Twitter. Like and Follow ImagiPLAY to keep updated on the latest news from their company.

ImagiPLAY has plenty of indoor toys for fall to help keep your children entertained on a cool day.  And it is educational as well!  ImagiPLAY is concerned about quality toys for your children that do not harm our environment.  Toy's with integrity!

Disclaimer: I received no Monetary Compensation for this post.  I did receive the ColorMeUp Pandas for review purposes.  All quotes are taken from the ImagiPLAY website or email.  All thoughts and opinions are mine.

Milson Road Review and Giveaway!

Hey Neighbors!

Here is a really neat product!  It is from Milson Road and is called The Daily Portrait.  Milson Road takes a special occasion and creates a wonderful commemorative framed print.  They can do birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, babies births, whatever your special occasion might be!  I had one done for our 28th anniversary.  They took the year we were married and found some news from that year and then they gathered news from the date of our anniversary.  At the bottom of the portrait is an engraved plate of the special date.  The left side of the picture is when we were married and the right is from the anniversary.  You also get to pick the frame, background colors (mat) and your font style.  This is a $165 value.

Here is an example from their site.

I am really impressed with the finished product.  I will tell you that you will only be seeing the proof of my portrait because even though Milson Road carefully packages everything, and believe me, it was wrapped in tons of bubble wrap, the glass in my portrait was damaged in shipping.  Milson Road has very graciously told me they are ready to ship a replacement.  I was going to wait, but I really wanted to get this post up in case someone wanted it as a gift.

Do be careful when you review your portrait.  I unfortunately was not and my portrait is off one year on both the wedding and anniversary date, but that was not Milson Roads fault.  I failed to catch it in the proof.  So do take care when you check it.

About Milson Road:

"Milson Road. This has long been a sentimental favorite for us, so we felt it was the perfect name for our family-owned and operated business. As our home-away-from-home during a time living in Australia, Milson Road represents memories of adventures, celebrations and special holidays spent with family and friends from near and far. Each spring, a large Jacaranda tree bloomed in a wild burst of lavender over Milson Road. This beautiful, annual event was always worth celebrating — and documenting — so we thought it only fitting to use its signature lavender shade and iconic branches to help tell our Milson Road story. Those wonderful years back on Milson Road inspired us to share our founding signature product, The Daily PortraitTM, with others. Mark originally developed handmade versions of The Daily Portrait as special gifts for nieces and nephews. After the birth of our first child, we were finally able to hang our own version of The Daily Portrait in our home on Milson Road. Friends and family members began requesting their own versions of The Daily Portrait to commemorate important milestones in their lives and to give as gifts on special occasions. When we came back to the U.S., The Daily Portrait came with us, and so did the passion to someday create our company, Milson Road.We are proud to share The Daily Portrait with you and your family. With this one-of-a-kind gift you can capture the events of an extraordinary day, and consider that day saved — forever. We hope you enjoy your visit to Milson Road, and find a sentimental favorite while you’re here. Thanks for stopping by."

The portrait itself is simply beautiful and I highly recommend Milson Road.  It does take 3-4 weeks for your portrait to arrive, so make sure you take that into account when you order. Check their FAQ page if you have any questions before ordering.

Now, one person is going to win this giveaway and receive a Daily Portrait of their own.

Mandatory Entry:Visit the Milson Road website and then in a comment tell me what event you would get your Daily Portrait for.  You do not have to be a blogger to enter, but you must leave a valid email where you can be reached should you win.  This giveaway will end on 11/11 at 11:59 pm CST.  The winner will be chosen using random.org and will be notified by email.  The winner will have 48 hours to respond.  (US only)

Rubik's Cube Review and Giveaway!

Rubik's 30th!

Hey Neighbors!

I apologize for missing yesterday's post.  My husband was preaching a revival meeting all week long and we had to travel yesterday and it just didn't work out.  So today I will do 2 posts.  One in the morning and one in the evening.  Anyway this is a perfect idea to keep the children busy on a Fall day when it is too cool to go out!  Rubik's Cube!  They are celebrating  30 years this year.  I find that hard to believe.  I remember playing with a Rubik's Cube when I was younger.  We opened ours on this long trip we have been taking and it gained everyone's interest.  My son decided he was going to conquer it!  After about 20 minutes he passed it on to one of his sisters.  They took it into the restaurants with them, and even had the reading light on after dark.  Did anyone complete it?  Not yet.  I haven't released the solution yet!  One whole day of amusement watching them trying to solve the Rubik's Cube.  "I almost have one side, but I am missing one square!"  Not realizing that when they go to complete the next side it would mess up what they had already completed.  I believe I might let them go one more day without the solution.  It really has kept them entertained.  They play with it, take a break and then pick it up again.  It challenges them.  (Pictures from yesterday will be posted later today.)
Concentrating!

Not Yet!

You can do the Rubik's Cube is a website that helps you solve the Rubik's Cube.  It encourages using the Rubik's Cube for math and science.  There is a whole section for teachers.  Even a few sample lessons.  What a neat idea to use a Rubik's Cube to encourage learning.  A hands on approach!

Now let me tell you, they have an official website, including the solution!  My children don't know about that yet though!  And believe it or not there are competitions!   My children are not ready for anything like that!  If you want to see a video about solving the Cube you can see it here, but don't let your children know!

Some little facts about Rubik's Cube:
  • Ernő Rubik invented the Cube in the spring of 1974 in his home town of Budapest, Hungary. He wanted a working model to help explain three-dimensional geometry and ended up creating the world’s best selling toy.
  • Rubik’s inspiration for the Cube’s internal mechanism came from pebbles in the River Danube whose edges had been smoothed away.
  • Rubik called his invention the ‘Magic Cube’. It was renamed the Rubik’s Cube by the Ideal Toy Corporation in 1980.
  • More than 300 million Rubik’s Cubes have been sold worldwide. If all the cubes were placed on top of each other it would be enough to reach the North Pole from the South Pole!
  • At the height of the Rubik’s craze in the mid-1980s, it was estimated that one-fifth of the world’s population had played the Cube.
  • ‘Cubing’ still infects people of all ages. ‘Cubaholics’ are said to suffer from ‘Rubik's wrist’ and ‘Cubist's thumb’!
  • Rubik’s Cube has featured in hundreds of books, magazines, movies and even had its own TV series on ABC in America. Millions of web pages, blogs and YouTube videos are now dedicated to cubing.
  • The Cube has inspired everything from fashion, architecture and music to films, plays and political speeches. There is also a dedicated art movement known as ‘Rubikubism’.
  • There are edible cubes, jewel-encrusted Cubes and even MP3 playing cubes! The biggest Cube in the world, on display in Knoxville, Tennessee, is 3 metres tall and weighs over 500kg.
  • National and international ‘speedcubing’ championships have been held regularly since 2003. The World Cube Association now runs competitions where players have to solve the Cube one-handed, as well as having to solve the Cube using only your feet. There is even a competition where players have to solve the Cube as quickly as possible blindfolded!
  • In May 2007, Thibaut Jacquinot of France became the first person to complete the Cube in under 10 seconds in open competition, setting a world record time of 9.86 seconds. The current world record for a single solve was set by Erik Akkersdijk at the 2008 Czech Open with a time of 7.08 seconds.
  • The speed Cubing Championships were held in Budapest in October 2007 and were attended by Ernő Rubik himself.
  • In 2007 the Rubik's Cube beat stiff competition to be recognised in the annual CoolBrands list by the Superbrands organisation.
The winner of this giveaway will receive their own Rubik's Cube and Solution Guide.  This is a toy worth having for indoor play in Fall!  (Or on a long car trip!)

Charlies Soap Review and Giveaway!

Hey Neighbors,

Here's a nice Fall product!  Charlie's Soap!  I love the Fall days when the weather is just a bit nippy, and you have a great breeze for drying clothes on the line.  I received some samples of Charlie's Powdered Soap and the Pocket Charlie's stain remover.  I have to say I really like the stain remover!  With 6 children we often have spills that result in stains!  Charlie's Soap works great!  And of course it is environmentally safe and hypoallergenic.

Now, I was not able to use the detergent several times in one washer so that all the previous detergent was removed.  Unfortunately we have to do our laundry in town.  Thus I am constantly using different machines.  But you can still tell a difference.

First time users:

I'm a first time user of Charlie's Soap. What should I do to make sure I have the best experience with Charlie's Soap?
  • Run a large empty load with double the amount of Charlie's Soap and maybe a few old rags to clear your washing machine of any residue left by other detergents.
  • Garments may have to be washed a few times before all the residues are removed and you notice benefits of Charlie's Soap - low suds, softness, scent free, etc. You will not need fabric softeners.
Soap or Detergent?

Is Charlie’s Soap a “soap”, or is it a “detergent”?
  • Charlie’s Soap is really a blend of natural-based surfactants (detergents) derived from coconut oil, treated with a product of natural gas (real soaps are treated with caustic soda or pot ash), and salts in water (Laundry Liquid) or pure Green Mountain washing soda (Laundry Powder).
  • There is a good reason that it is called Charlie’s Soap and not Charlie's Detergent. Thirty plus years ago, the product was first created for the textile industry. It worked so well that workers in the plants started stealing it. And, they eventually found their way over to our office asking for it. Everyone in the textile plants knew Charlie Sutherland, Sr., and so they started asking for some of Charlie’s “soap”, not knowing the chemical difference between soaps and detergents. Charlie Sutherland, Jr. actually created the product, but it’s not his name on the bottle. After years of trying to name the product everything under the sun, the name “Charlie’s Soap” just stuck.
I highly recommend Charlie's Soap to my neighbors At the Fence.  Try Charlie's Soap and see what you think.

Charlie's Soap is giving the winner of this giveaway an 80 load bag of laundry powder, a 17oz sprayer of all purpose and a grocery tote bag.

ZIbits Mini Collectible Robot Giveaway

Hey Neighbors,

Here's a neat Fall idea for your children for indoor play!  They are called Zibits by Senario and are cute mini robots.  They are remote controlled and are only about 2 inches high.  And here's some great information; Senario is also releasing playsets for them.  A lab, mine shaft, and a racetrack, so your children can form their own buildable and expandable communities for their Zibit.  There are presently 12 Zibits in different fun designs.  Use your remote control to move them around.  They even do a 360.  We were given one as a giveaway and being as busy as we have been lately I actually opened the one I was given.  The company is graciously sending me another for giveaway.  (Boy, did I feel dumb!)  Anyway my daughter played with the Zibit and had a lot of fun.  She had to keep it on the table top because our dog wanted to play too!  I think she thought it was for her.

The Zibits also make cute little sounds.  Not good when your husband is studying!  They light up too!  Zibits are definitely a great indoor toy for Fall.  It would make a great gift idea too!  Even adults will enjoy controlling the Zibits.

You can purchase Zibits online or at Target.  They are $9.99 each.  Not bad for a lot of fun.

The winner of this giveaway will receive the Scrapz Zibits.

Hi Neighbors,

Here's a great product for Fall and Back to School. Proactiv has allowed me to review one of their kits.  Having 3 children in their teens and above, I definitely know about problems with acne.

If you have a teenager that's struggling with acne, then I have a product for you! Proactiv is one of the biggest names in acne and blemish-fighting skincare products, and they recently added a couple new products for teens. This would be great for teens going back to school, etc. When you order the Proactiv Plus for Teens, not only do you get the 3-step system, it also comes with a Deep Cleaning Wash (for body), and Advanced Blemish Treatment.

"It has been estimated that 85 percent of the 40-50 million Americans suffering with acne attempt to self-treat their condition," said Dr. Katie Rodan, dermatologist and co-developer of Proactiv.  "We created Proactiv to help people effectively manage this chronic and often devastating problem. From the beginning, Proactiv offered education about acne through our infomercial and now, we're expanding that education with innovative online support and trained Skin Care Advisors available 24/7. We want our customers to know we care about them and are dedicated to their success."
Dr. Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields, dermatologist and Proactiv co-developer, traveled the country together to personally train Proactiv Skin Care Advisors. Now, this highly skilled group of experts is available to help customers in a whole new way – acting as acne-treatment coaches helping people reach their goal of a consistently clear complexion.
"Not everyone can get access to a dermatologist or insurance to cover an office visit," said Dr. Kathy Fields.  "As doctors, we've been dedicated to treating acne since we began practicing medicine, and we wanted to do everything we could to extend our knowledge and expertise to benefit as many people as possible."

I was sent the 3-step system for review, which includes the Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner, and Repairing Treatment. As an added bonus, this also came with the Proactiv Green Tea Moisturizer, a Refining Mask, and a booklet entitled "The Doctor's Secret to a Lifetime of Clear Skin".
I had my daughter try out this system. She absolutely loves it, and is sold on Proactiv now! Here's what she said:
"The 3 steps work great together. After using morning and evening for a couple weeks, I can see a change in my skin. I like that these don't make my face feel all tight and dry like so many other brands. While it cleans, and cleans deep, it doesn't dry out my skin. The green tea moisturizer is my favorite moisturizer ever! It isn't greasy or oily, but really moisturizes! With this Proactiv system, I have clean, soft skin, and I love it!"

Proactiv will be sending the winner of this giveaway their own kit.
